Vehicle Detail
I purchased this Cougar from a private seller in Georgia to restore and never got around to it. It has been sitting in my garage the last 6 years. This model and year was the first car I purchased when I was young. I pulled it out of the garage last weekend, and drove it downtown just to get that feeling back and it drives very good. The suspension is very good, manual brakes are good, and the power steering has no play in it whatsoever. I was thinking again that I should start working on it and restore it, but I have so many other projects going on, I will never realistically get to work on it. The car will drive across the country without a problem. It does not overheat and the motor is quiet, as it has brand new single exhaust on a 302 V-8. When I bought the car, I had it sent up to Minnesota via freight. It has never seen a single Minnesota bad weather day. Then I set out to start fixing the body, so I picked all the panels that had very little rust and straightened them and primed. For the panels that had bad rust, I grinded the panels out, thinking that one day I would weld new patch panels in, but just simply never got around to it. I have a complete file folder with original manual, Chiltons Service manual, the original wiring diagram manual, and all the original service receipts kept by the previous owner. There are a bunch of other documents too related to the car. It does not have the original mechanical sequencial turn signal box in the trunk, but it was replaced with a digital one that works great. The headlamp covers open but you have to shut them manually, probably need a little adjusting. Mechanically the car is in very good shape. The interior needs work and as you can see the body needs to be restored. There are no holes in the pans below the seats. In the trunk there are some small holes developing around the tank, but nothing extensive. I cannot find the title at the moment, but I did receive a clear title from the last owner and have a color copy of it, just need to look harder for it, pretty sure I can find it. I'll guarantee it's a clear title however. The glass is great all around the car. I have a box full of emblems and extra stuff as the car was pretty much complete when I bought it. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail or call me at 612-599-9506, and ask for Greg.
