Vehicle Detail
This 69 Pontiac Lemans really turns heads when it drives by When I bought it in 1998 the car was recently brough into the michiana area. Previous to that it was from the state of washington after the mountans and in the Dry high plains desert portion. So the Body was pretty good with the exception of some dents. I came across a 67 pontiac 400 and I had it rebuilt in the year 2000 It was a full rebuild including installing screw in rocker studs for future addition of Roller rockers. the rotating assembly was balanced by shaker racing. I went with 30 over pistons the stock compression ratio is 10.5 to 1 stainles steel valve guides and seats were installed so that it would be fine with unleaded. The engine runs fine on Premium gas and it has even run Ok on low grade regular by mistake. I always use premium. in 2005 I installed a new Auburn Posi and a 3.55 rear gear in 2005 I installed an indash Tachometer from Original parts group. in 2005 I installed a 140Mph spedometer. Mileage was 45,352 miles on the spedometer when installed in 2005 I installed a new 4 core radiator. in 2007 I installed the front spindles from a 1979 Transam. to convert to disc brakes on the front. I also rebuilt all the front end bushings and Upper and lower ball joints. Then I installed the front antisway bar from the Trans am which is about twice as thick as the GTO anti sway bar. in 2008 I installed a new heater core and Blower motor. as this requires taking passenger side fender off. in 2008 I installed a 700R4 overdrive requiring a shortened drive shaft. in 2009 I broke that tranny next I installed a 200R4 overdrive 4 speed with lockup torque converter. at 70 miles per hour my motor is only turning 2000Rpm With the 200R4 I had to go back to the standard length drive shaft and the Tranny fits the pontiac Bell pattern. It also fits chevy buick caddilac. I have gotten 20Mpg at 65Mph. in 2004 I replaced the passenger side Rear quarter panel and inner and outer fenders. Now the drivers side rear quarter panel needs to be replaced. I have the quarter panel and inner and outer fenders and they go with the car. I have new window trim for rear windows but not installed yet. I dont have a welder now and I attempted to fix rear deck lid and I installed fiberglass and my job was poor and will have to be cut out and done correctly I recieved a quote for new metal installed and rolled around bottom as stock for 150 bucks. But I dont have time to mess with that now selling as is. This car Needs some body work. But has a solid floor and trunk and solid rocker panels. the doors are good except for a couple dents. Hood is fine but has a couple of dents. Roof has a couple of dents from some one sitting on the roof. Before I bought it. THe car will need to be repainted. But you could drive this car as is right now across country without issue. Great project for a Body man you could turn this into a 10,000 dollar car easily. This is an original Bucket seat car and has the center counsul and floor shifter. This has no reserve any Bid over 4000 dollars puts you in the running to get this fine machine. The floor boards have undercoating on them and the pictures dont do justice to how well preserved the floors are. I also have the chrome trim that goes along the bottom edge But took it off years ago and never put it back on.
