Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is an unmolested 1978 Pontiac Trans Am Firebird. Car has original Pontiac 400, 4bbl V-8 with automatic transmission with only 41,718 miles on it and has never been restored. As you can see in the pictures, this car is nearly perfect in every way from the Carmine Red interior to the waffle style wheels. The VIN is 2W87Z8N141424 which translates to: 2-Pontiac, W-Trans Am 75-81, 87-Sport Coupe, Z-400, 4bbls V-8 77-79, 8-1978 model year, N-Assembled in Norwood, Ohio, 141424-sequence number. This car was modified by Hurst as identified by the door sticker on the driver's door. If interested in additional details please request more info from the seller using the E-Bay option. Car is being sold as-is, with no warranty implied. Car is being listed locally for sale, seller has right to end auction early if it sells. On Jul-22-12 at 14:23:52 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks for the interest. We have taken a few minutes to decypher the body tag: ST78 - 1978 2FS87 - Firebird N - Norwood OH 157191 - Body production number 74N - Carmine Vinyl interior A51 - Bucket seats 11L - Cameo White Lower paint 11U - Cameo White Upper paint 01C - Built in third week of January, 1978 A31 - Power Windows WS4 - Trans Am CAR - Carmine interior secondary color 040673 - Assembly line date stamp Car has original AM/FM Stereo without the 8-track player, as well as the Space Saver spare tire still in the trunk. All gauges work, and yes the T-Tops are the Hurst modification I mentioned in the first response. I have no record of any other wheels being on this car, as the records only show these. This is the original paint and decals, from what we can tell. Again this car has spent the past 20 plus years in storage. We have taken it to a local mechanic shop and given it a tune up. she fires right up and can be driven anywhere. The tires are a few years old, but are still up to highway standards.
