Vehicle Detail
A classic Saab 900, one of the last years to be built in SWEDEN. This car is from the amazing SAAB legacy that is becoming harder to find. It was driven by my mother, and was purchased about 6 years ago from a Saab dealership. My mom paid $5500 for it, which I think was ridiculous but anyway that was the cost. Then about 2 years ago, to prepare the car for road-worthyness, my parents invested about $1500 -- $500 for the brand new exhaust system ordered from the US; and then $1000 to have the engine completely rebuilt (our mechanic told us the gaskets were leaking so he said it was better just to totally overhall the engine). He did that and now it runs beautifully , the transmission and clutch are perfect too. These sorts of cars in perfect condition seem to be going for $2k - 5k. I don't know why Saabs are so much more than Japanese cars, but they are. However, I am listing it for much less as I believe there is a fair bit of work you will need to do. I wouldn't mind if there was a bidding war to bring the price up to the 1-2k mark but I have set the reserve quite low too. Yo won't find all these parts this cheap again, so if you have a 900 Saab this is really worth grabbing for parts too. HOWEVER we are selling it **AS-IS**. There are some other problems that you would need to take care or, or altenratively use it for parts (did I mention the exhaust system was brand new and the engine is totally re-furbished?). I refused to let my parents sink more into this, and would like to see it go to a good Saab enthusiast home, and someone who is mechanically inclined. The major problem that broke my camel back was that the rear-axel is slightly off and needs straightening. So summarizing the good/great:- Gearchange and handbrake working perfectly.- All electrics working well.- AC has not been used in years but was functioning when last used.- Cruise control is functioning.- New engine- New exhaust system- tires put on recently, on nice RIMs And the problems/bad: - Seats are not electrically operated.- There is a slight loss of coolant from the radiator.- Interior ceiling liner (headliner) has peeled off and needs re-glueing.- Righthand door electrical window not working (perhaps works partially)- rust on the insides of doors, and a scrape on the outside body door, and by the back wheelwell. It is located in TORONTO, CANADA, so you need to be able to pick it up here. It's not worth shipping it so you should come and pick it up. It drives fine so you can drive it with temp plates.
