1978 FJ40 – FUEL INJECTED, FRONT DISCS, POWER STEERING, GREAT TRUCK! FOR SALE, mechanically excellent FUEL INJECTED, POWER STEERING 1978 FJ40. It starts, runs and drives super well, and turns heads EVERYWHERE I go in it! Starts 100% in all weather conditions, hot, freezing, humid, or dry. Always starts on first try. I purchased this on eBay in October of 2009. Since then I have put a lot of work and money into it (over $15K invested!) But I got new vehicle (a little more family friendly) and so it must go. It is a GREAT daily driver, mechanically superb and super reliable! Body is Sept 1977, Engine is 1F, Titled as 1978 has discs in front (as a 78 should). The fuel injection gives this 1F engine a significant boost in power. Step on the gas and it goes HARD. The fuel injection system is all GM from a '91 chevy s10 blazer 4.3 tbi, ecu, MAP sensor, o2 sensor, knock sensor, Idle air control. You can buy parts for it anywhere being that GM produced millions of these systems. Engine in this FJ40 is GREAT. When I bought it the previous owner said did a compression check and all cylinders were excellent. I haven’t done one but I can tell you the engine is great. Transmission shifts great, 2WD and 4WD all work, locking hubs work fine business. Breaks are all GREAT and recently redone. This is a real driver. Want a vehicle where you don’t have to worry about scratches or getting it dirty? Want to 4 wheel? This is a great vehicle to start with. This would make a great vehicle for a trail build. Mechanically excellent, body ok, but not great. Note the rear Thule bicycle rack is NOT included in this sale.
