Vehicle Detail

I have made an effort to take photos that should answer most of your questions. If there is something you need to know to help your decision to buy the car that is not posted in the listing, feel free to write & ask. The car is approaching 16 year of age and it is not by any means perfect. I would rate her well above average, but not perfect. If she was perfect; she'd be in Hemmings and not ebay. On that note, if restoration is your bag, without a great deal of work or money, she can be a gem. If you just want a daily driver that looks hot that you can drive to and from, this is it. She runs & shifts like a Swiss watch. Easy start even after sitting for long periods of time. I dusted her off, pulled her out of the garage and ran her up the park the other day to take the photos you see and even began to wonder if I am doing the right thing. Well, it is the right thing for there are other things pressing at this time but not necessarily the thing I want to do. The headliner does not sag (as many do), all the power options work; tilt cruise, windows, seat, radio. The only thing in question the AC as it has never been converted from R12. The interior amazes even me each time I go down to look at her. It is that clean clean clean. The body is solid, frame is solid, tires are good. She is just all around healthy. There are some scabs that you may or may not want to address depending on your planned use but as is she looks pretty good. The car comes with 3 sets of keys and the rear view mirror will be replaced by the time you come for delivery. History.... The General Motors G platform (also called G-body) was a designation used for mid sized read wheel drive cars first from 1969-1972 and again from 1982 to 1988. The G-body designation was originally used for 1969–1972 Grand Prix and 1970–1972 Monte Carlo coupes. Between 1973 and 1981 the A-body coupes with formal rooflines were designated as A-Special and after 1982 dubbed as the G-Special. These special coupes included the Monte, Grand Prix, Cutlass Supreme & Regal two door models. 1982 to 1988 G-bodies began production designated as A body cars in 1978, but were redesignated as G when the new FWD A body was introduced in 1982, at which point the Chevy Malibu/Pontiac LeMans coupes were dropped along with the Buick/Olds fastbacks. 1983 was the last year for wagons and Chevy Malibu sedans, leaving the G-Special coupes, B-O-P formal-roof sedans and the Chevy El Camino/GMC Caballero. In 1988, most remaining G-body models were moved to the new FWD W platform although the Bonneville moved to the H body, the El Camino was dropped without replacement and there would be a one-year gap before the W-body Chevy Lumina coupe truly replaced the Monte Carlo. G-bodies were some of the last cars to follow the classic muscle formula, remaining popular while most mid-sized cars moved to front wheel drive. They were also raced in NASCAR The Cutlass Supreme was downsized for 1978, along with the rest of the Cutlass line. An upscale Cutlass Calais model was added, differing from the Cutlass Supreme only in minor trim details. The new notchback Cutlass Supreme proved to be far more popular than the controversial fastback Salon coupe and sedan introduced at the same time. The Cutlass Calais, essentially replaced the previous Cutlass Salon series, as far as model position and content were concerned. The Calais featured reclining Strato bucket seats, center console, sport steering wheel, full instrumentation, tuned suspension with front and rear sway bars, color-keyed wheelcovers, and more. Both the Cutlass Supreme and Calais were optioned with T tops and/or a factory sunroof, even on the base Cutlass Supreme coupe with the factory radio delete option. From 1978 through 1980, a high-performance 442 model was available, and for 1979, a special-edition performance model, the HURST OLDS was offered. These used the Supreme's notchback body, rather than the standard fastback coupe's. Around 2,499 Hurst/Olds were produced - all were powered with an Oldsmobile 5.7L (350 cubic-inch) Rocket V8 (not the diesel engine) sourced from the full-size Delta 88 and Ninety Eight Regency. Also included in the Hurst/Olds package was the Hurst Dual/Gate shifter for the three-speed Turbo Hydra-matic transmission. My original goal was to make this car a HUSRTclone, but that takes time and money both of which I seem to be short on these days. 1987 was the final year for the RWD sedan, and both coupe models received a restyled header panel with composite headlights. 1988 was the final year for the RWD Cutlass Supreme. It was badged Cutlass Supreme Classic, and 27,678 were built. The 2-door coupe (produced alongside the Monte Carlo at GM's Pontiac, Michigan plant) continued, until the new front-wheel drive version was released in December 1987. The Olds 307 was the only available engine.
