Vehicle Detail

I purchased this vehicle new in February 2007. It was the first Toyota I have ever owned, and I have been nothing but impressed with its build quality and reliability. It has never been smoked in. After the first two oil changes with conventional oil, I have used only Mobil 1 synthetic (I was told to use conventional oil for at least the first 2 changes for a better engine break in before switching to synthetic). I had the oil changes performed at a local shop for the first year or 2 until the price of a synthetic oil change got way out of hand (started charging me around 75 bucks when it started out at around 40 bucks). Since then, I have done all oil changes myself (cost around 30 bucks for a 5 quart container of Mobil 1 and a filter from Wal-Mart) at around every 5,000 miles. One thing that has impressed me with this truck is that it does not leak or burn/use any oil whatsoever. I have never had to add any oil because of low level in between changes, as the level has always remained the same as when it was changed. Besides regular oil and filter changes, the only work I have had to do to it in terms of repairs is to replace the battery and put new brake pads. I also changed the spark plugs (not because of any problem, just for regular maintainence) and put a new air filter (2nd time I changed it) a couple of months ago. Another thing that has impressed me about this truck is that everything works in it as it should. I have had other vehicles that I got over 100k miles out of, but there was always a few little things that didn't work in them by that point (like broken ac vents or other little buttons and functions that were broken). Thats not the case in this FJ, as everything works as it should with no broken or malfunctioning pieces or components. The only time the check engine light comes on is every 4500 miles as an oil change reminder, which is easily reset. The only thing I can think of that doesn't function as it did the day I bought it is the keyless entry, but not because anything broke. I had 2 remotes and 2 keys, but I lost an entire keychain at one point that had a remote and a key on it. I later crushed the last remote by accident when I stepped on it with my boot. So I only have one key, which is all I have had for the last year or so. Both doors can be locked and unlocked with the key from the outside of the driver's door. Not long after I bought it, I swapped out the front springs with the medium OME springs to level it out and allow for slightly oversized tires (which were 285/70/17 BFG AT's and which stayed on for just over 100,000 miles). A few years later, I went through a local 4x4 shop to have a 3 inch Toytec lift installed, at which time they put new front shocks. I had it aligned at an alignment shop recommended to me after the lift was installed. It currently has 295/70/17 Nitto Trail Grapplers (roughly 34" tires). I have about 30,000 miles on these tires, and they should have at least 10,000 more miles left in them. The wheels are the factory alloy's that were painted with a dark charcoal metallic color. I have gone offroad with this truck several times because I needed to get to a remote location to launch my kayak that I carried on the top rack so that I could go fishing. That being said, I have never abused it offroad or went mudding just to play around. The type of offroading I did was pretty mild. A couple of years ago, someone apparently thought it was funny to throw an egg on my the driver's side door between the side mirror and the door handle while they crossed me at night on a busy highway. It damaged the paint and clear coat slightly in the area it hit. I had a friend of mine that knows a little about paint (but isn't a professional) do what he could to repair it. Its not noticable in passing as it was before the repair, but if you are looking for it, you can notice that the area of the door around where it was damaged is slightly hazy. The only time I would notice it is when I washed the truck. If I hadn't mentioned it on here, I doubt anyone would have noticed anything. This vehicle is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells. I have the free and clear title in hand and ready to transfer immediately to buyer upon receipt of payment in full by money order or cashier's check, which is due within 7 days of the close of the auction. All shipping is responsibility of the buyer. However, I could meet anyone in Southwest Louisiana to deliver the truck, or could meet a shipping company somewhere close to me to deliver for shipping.
