This auction is for a 2005 Ford F150 XLT 4X4 Super Cab pickup. It’s finished in Silver metallic clear coat with the Flint Gray interior. The truck has some transmission problems that are described in greater detail further down in the description and is why it is priced this low. This F150 is powered by a 231 HP and 293 lb.-ft. of torque Triton 4.6L V8 engine known for it’s high power output, good economy and inherent smoothness. It features two chain driven overhead cams, coil on plug ignition, multiport fuel injection and drive by wire throttle. This 4.6L engine is more than capable of performing any job you can give it, from carrying cargo with nearly a full ton of payload capacity to towing a heavy trailer with a 6,500 pound tow rating. While it’s not as powerful as the 5.4L engine, you can get much better fuel economy with 18 to 20 mpg real world highway driving compared to the 5.4L which will barely reach 16 mpg. And it runs great on regular grade gas. If that still doesn’t work, CLICK HERE to see the pictures individually. The paint and body are in good condition with just the usual dings, scuffs and scratches you expect on a 176K mile truck. There is a shallow fist sized dent on top of the hood and a smaller one on the left fender. It looks like the truck was owned by a painter as the interior has some paint stains on the rear carpet at the left side, and on the seat at the right plus two cigarette burns in the middle. Mechanically, the engine pulls strong and feels smooth both while idling, accelerating as well as cruising. The steering wheel is on center going down the road with no shakes or vibrations at speed, the brakes are firm with no pedal pulsations or pulling to one side when stopping, and the suspension is tight. It has a matching set of four Hankook DynaPro AT tires size 235/70R17 that combine extended wear with enhanced traction and handling, a smooth comfortable ride and long tread life. Two have more than half their tread life left, the other two are just about at the half way point. The major mechanical problem is with the transmission. It has no reverse and no overdrive. For the first problem, you just have to be careful how you park, always find a pull through space, or if you're on an uphill slope, roll backwards into the space. For no OD, as long as you do mostly in town driving, it's not a major issue. Even if you do get on the highway, 55 mph is still just 2,000 rpm so it's not too bad. The display in the dash shows TRANS FAULT and the OD light flashes so it should have a code stored, but I'm assuming the worse, and that a fluid change or new shift solenoid won't fix the problem. If you can live with these issues, great, I have it priced thousands below similar trucks. If not, worse case scenario is, if you can do it yourself or have someone that works cheap, is putting in a used transmission. Pick&Pull prices are $100 to $150 while conventional junkyards charge from $500 and up. Even if you have to take it to AMMCO or an independent transmission shop, it shouldn’t cost much over $1,500 to rebuild the transmission. If I can sell it here on Ebay for a similar price and avoid dealer auction fees and transportation expenses, and the new owner gets the truck at a true wholesale price, then both buyer and seller make out ahead. If you are serious about buying a new bodystyle 2004 and up 4X4 F150, this is about as low as they go, especially if you need it delivered. Also, when comparing this truck to the others on Ebay, remember that we don’t charge dealer processing fees or document fees that many other listings have for $200 or more and bury in their fine print. And don’t be fooled by some other auctions that are advertised as NO RESERVE and start at $100 or some other low price. Since no dealer is going to risk loosing thousands of dollars if their auction doesn’t bring enough money, you can be pretty sure they have some “people” bidding on it for them.
