We bought this car in 1999 with 83,644 miles, from the first owner. It is an original Arizona car, 2 owners and then myself. It has never been in an accident, NO rust, and cleans up real well. I am a good hobby mechanic and am not afraid to spend money to maintain my cars. This car has never been in the shop, since we owned it, save for wheel alignments. I immediately changed all the fluids, and have always used synthetic oil in the engine, transmission, and transfer case. When you inspect it, you will see premium items such as Optima battery and Michelin tires. The Michelins are nitrogen filled and have lots of tread. I changed the plain looking Olds grill (still got it-goes with the car) to the GMC just 'cause I like it. Also, Blazer wheels replaced the Bravada wheels, both will come with the car. Many know that the stout little 4.3L V6 is actually based on the 5.7L V8 smallblock Chevy so that many small block accessories bolt right on! The V8 performance reduction gear starter has proven totally reliable and positively gets rid of the classic hot soak, no crank problem well known on smallblocks. Power steering pumps. alternators, and serpentine belt systems all benefit from the developement of the V8. Parts are readily available, at reasonable prices! This engine is still tight, doesn't burn or leak oil, and starts, and runs smoothly. Recent work includes a new heater core, followed by new coolant and synthetic engine oil change. I just changed the front brake pads and the rears were inspected and are probably 90% left. New motor mounts were a bear to put in and I did them as I was changing the oil cooler hoses. Also, in the last two years, I replaced the spark plugs with E-3s, the plug wires with Delco OEM, and the cap and rotor. A new catalytic converter was needed to pass emissions in 2011-no problem this year. An aluminum radiator was installed 3 years ago as I use this vehicle to tow my dune buggy to the dunes. The Bravada has a 5000 # hitch and tows my 2000 # buggy with ease. The steering box was upgraded to a low mileage 2002 Bravada unit as the old one was getting sloppy. Other work includes new Delco CPI fuel injection 03/09 at 194,000, new ball joints and bushings, new master cylinder, new Hella quartz halogens, all with the intent to keep this Olds in top working condition! Underneath, I found that the aluminum plates that protect the drive train, on Blazers, also fit the Bravada. As noted, Olds uses a full time 4 wheel drive system which adds additional safety, even on the highway, as well as great traction and power when needed. With the 4L60E's low first gear, a low range is not needed, and would just add weight and drag, most of the time. In the dunes, I have unstuck full size motor homes with the pulling power of this rig! The electronically controlled transmission works well with 4 speeds plus overdrive. About 2200 RPM at 75. I always pull the trans pan for filter changes and have never seen any indication of wear. Computer control has improved trans life significantly! The factory Security system still works well, and that along with the ABS braking will get you a couple of breaks on insurance, especially important if you expect someone under 25 to drive. The factory owners manual and a factory shop manual are included in this sale. I think the first person who drives this car will want to buy it. If you need to tow a trailer load to Alaska tomorrow, the Bravada will do the job and probably put money in your pocket!
