Vehicle Detail
A classic Saab 900. This car is from the amazing SAAB legacy that is becoming harder to find. The car has had about $1500 invested in it recently ($500 for a brand new exhaust system), and $1000 to have the engine completely rebuilt (our mechanic told us the gaskets were leaking and so we wanted to have everything redone while the engine was open). SADLY for us, there was one more problem that we did not realize, the rear axel is a little warped. And after spending all that money, I refused to let my parents spend more so I got them another cheap car. They are on pension and shouldn't have spent this money anyway - so anyway you are getting a lot of free-money parts . Long story short, there are some amazing parts in this car (new exhaust & rebuilt engine), so if you know someone who can fix whatever is wrong with the rear axel, you have a great little piece of auto history. Alternatively if you have a Saab 900 and need to fix a burned-out engine and exhaust, this car has the parts for you!. It is located in TORONTO, CANADA, so you need to be able to pick it up here. It's not worth shipping it so you should come and pick it up. It drives fine so you can drive it with temp plates. On 23-Jun-12 at 00:39:00 EDT, seller added the following information:Okay Saab bidders/watchers, I was over at my parents place and took some pictures and got some updates. There are some aspects of the car that I must mention: 1. There is quite a bit of rust around the bottom of the doors, you'll need to bondo it & rust protect it. On one of the wheel wells around the side there is some rust and the wheel-trim is a somewhat dented. 2. The headliner (the inside roof) has peeled away from the top. Apparently it's a common issue with these type of cars. 3. The power-windows on the passenger side works but the window does not go up all the way without a little manual help. I will try to take it for a drive this weekend, or you can around the block. If you are a handy person it may be worth polishing up, otherwise like I mentioned before I highly recommend it for the brand new exhaust system ($500 cost), adn the rebuilt engine ($1k Saab mechanic cost). You can pop those parts into your other Saab 900S body. Contact me with your email if you wnat me to send you some of the pictures I took tonight. I don't think I can post them here. As an aside, I saw on Autotrader that these sort of cars do seem to go for more than $1-3k, so I would think this is a good deal for you. But remember it's sold AS-IS. It drives, that I know, but I don't want to deal with it and whatever repairs are needed to make it road-worthy, and there isn't space on my parents drive-way. Hope this helps. On 23-Jun-12 at 00:53:21 EDT, seller added the following information:A plus I should mention: It is a 1993 MODEL (Date of manufacture: 02/1993) - the **LAST** year that these cars were built in Sweden. I know that the metal body of the car is much thicker metal (like the Mercedes) than the Japanese cars. I know that my mom bought it for $5.5k a few years ago. I think she overpaid on it, but whatever, it's done and now the car needs a new owner. The VIN is: YS3AK35E7P2015428 If there are 3 of you that want the CarProof/CarFax report and can send me $10, I'll buy the report and share it with you. Alternatively if you do buy the report, please share it with me so I can give to others. I don't think my parents ever got the report when they bought the car from a Saab dealership. On 23-Jun-12 at 01:01:01 EDT, seller added the following information: Picture #5: VIN area, Picture #6: inside car headliner drooping, Picture #7: rust inside drivers side door (sorry iPhone pictures at night don't come out great). On 23-Jun-12 at 18:46:59 EDT, seller added the following information: My dad went more thoroughly through the car and here are his notes:- AC has not been used in years but was functioning when last used.- Cruise control is functioning.- Seats are not electrically operated.- Gearchange and handbrake working perfectly.- There is a slight loss of coolant from the radiator.- All electrics working well.- Interior ceiling liner (headliner) needs to be reglued in place.- Righthand door electrical window not working. Another 7 pictures have been uploaded showing areas where rust is present (inside bottom of doors, and a little by the windscreen, and a scratch on the side). Hope this helps you understand better what you are bidding on. You are welcome to contact me to come and see the car.
