Vehicle Detail

This is General Lee #51 from the 2005 "Dukes of Hazzard movie. #51 was the car that did the driven courthouse jump used at the end og the movie. It is also the car seen in Mopar Collectors Guide and Hot Rod Magazine in several issues. In fact, The January 2008 issue of Hot Rod, which was the 65th anniversary issue, counted the top 100 hot rods of all time. #1 was the General Lee and the picture was a 2-page spread of THIS CAR (Gallery picture for this ad!) flying! GL #51 was built by A.J. Thrasher - the main car builder from the Dukes of Hazzard tv series. This is one of the last Generals he built as he retired after the movie production ended. GL #51 was piloted by famed stunt driver Mark Hager. The car flew over 100 feet and landed well. The frame sustained some damage and the original engine block cracked. GL #51 was then re-fitted as a sling car and was scheduled to be launched without a driver. GL #6 was the test car and flew fine. It was decided NOT to throw #51 a second time. The entire story is in the August 2005 issue of Mopar Collectors Guide. I obtained the car and my son and I re-built him. It now drives strait and well. I have personally taken it on 100 mile (one way) trips down the interstate. It is a stunt car. That means it is fully caged with little creature comfort. It was built to fly. It has a 440 engine and auto trans. It has all new wiring, lights, etc. THIS IS NOT A SHOW CAR IT IS A STUNT CAR. GL #51 is probably the most heavily caged General ever. It has reinforcement from bumper to bumper. All of the framing is steel plated. It is also the only General that actually had a door welded shut. Yes, you DO have to get in through the window. It also has heavy duty power disk brakes. It was equiped with only one seat as the stunt driver was the only one needed. It could have the passenger seat added but I chose not to mess with the roll cage. The car was in bad shape when sold at auction. It was repainted and decaled by a previous owner. Body work has some cracking. These cars were business only builds. They looked good on film but were built quickly and all emphasis was on the safety of the driver. I have the ENTIRE photo history of the car showing all stages of construction, the jump, the rebuild for the second jump it did not have to make, the auction, the museum it ended up in and all the stuff I have done to it as well.I also have a certificate of authenticity as well as e-mails from people who worked on it on set. It was also listed with it's vin # in Mopar Collectors guide. This car has been Autographed by several celebrities. It is signed by Catherine Bach, Ben Jones, James Best, & Henery Winkler (The Fonze) - we met him at the World of Wheels. It was also featured in a Chad Vader Video and was signed by Matt Sloan and Aaron Yonda. Cut and paste link to the video below to see it. http://youtu.be/qZHUHnqoqhE Here is a video we made showing off the car and what it can do! http://youtu.be/fKtrLte_GnY Warner brothers removed the vin tag from the dash but It is clearly stamped on the radiator support. The car is tagged and registered. There is no title so bill of sale only. You can get a title for it but our state does not require one for a car that old. If any help is needed I will be happy to help you get one. EBAY FORCES YOU TO LIST A TITLE TYPE SO I CHOSE THE CLOSEST OPTION. Thanks for understanding. There are only around 50 or so known Real Generals left in the world. That is tv series and movies combined. There is just too much history and detail to this car. I could type for hours. If you are as crazy about the Dukes as we have been this is your chance to own the REAL General Lee!Please ask any questions and SERIOUS bidders only! No 0 feedback bidders please. I have been burned before.
