Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a beautiful 1973 Ford Bronco. It has been extremely well preserved and has survived 40 years by being well taken care of. It was built in San Jose California and shipped to, then sold at Sun Valley Ford in Concord, CA. The original owner kept the Bronco out of the sun and garage kept from 1973 until 2004 driving only 55k miles. I was told he also owned a Wally's jeep with 40k miles and an early 70s Cadillac convertible with only 11k miles, both of which he bought new as well. The second owner worked at Denny's starting as a waiter and every Sunday he watched the Bronco owner drive in for breakfast. For years he talked to the original owner and admired the Bronco all the while hoping to buy it and asking the owner to sell. I was told after more than ten years the second owner was contacted and a deal was made. From 2004 to 2011 the bronco only acquired 400 or so miles and was mostly kept under a cover inside a garage. In nearly forty years the truck barely left the greater Sacramento area. I purchased a year and a half ago and had it shipped to Chicago where it has sat in my garage sadly, but still admired. When purchased the original owner had the rear flares added at the dealership and an air conditioning unit installed. The top has never been removed. It has the popular 302 v8 with a three speed manual on the column. It shifts great and drives very nicely down the road. It can be highway driven comfortably at 65 or 70 mph all day. The AM radio works just fine. Dash lights are touchy and maybe need some attention but do work. Steering and brakes are manual and work well. If anything I would do a brake adjustment because it pulls slightly left under hard braking. All 5 tires match and are like new. Exhaust is great, a single flowmaster muffler. Glass is all nice. Top is straight and clean with a couple small dings. Carpet has some stains but presentable. Rear seat is perfect. Front seats could be redone but show ok. The air conditioning unit turns on but the belt is off the compressor pulley. Not sure of its condition. Parking brake works great. I believe the original floor mats are still in it. There's a Ford part number on them if any interested buyers would like to check it. There is a fan installed inside the bronco for added airflow and it's mounted in the drivers rear side. Original owners manual still inside the original plastic bag is in the glove box. Still have the original dealer plate frames but one is broken. Original owner added a passenger side mirror at one point and unfortunately there are a few holes drilled there, there's a picture to show that. There is a squeaking noise under acceleration sometimes, not sure if it's the pilot bearing or what but it does not affect drivability. The Bronco came with the optional second gas tank but the plastic front tank was leaking and was removed. All the parts are included to put it back together. Just running from the rear tank currently. The exterior and interior has almost all of the sport and explorer options but there isnt an emblem on the glovebox. Windows are all chrome trim along with the tailgate handle. The houndstooth seats and interior panels were another indicator. Chrome bumpers and chrome headlight bezels. Chrome wheel covers. Painted grill with the Ford lettering. Has the striping kit on the side of the body and hood. Also the spare tire carrier and the headliner. The body is completely dry and rust free. It's amazing how well it's held up but that's a testament to its owners and the climate it was kept in.the undercarriage was never under coated and still has some shiny paint believe it or not.The Bronco is sporting it's original paint and as you can see it shines nicely, a great patina. The primer is showing through in some areas like the hood but it's faint not an eye sore. At some point the tailgate had a touch up blend, not sure why but it isn't noticeable.Remember this is a 40 year old truck. Would I drive it across country and expect it to make it, yes I would. But that's not a guarantee by any means. This Bronco is a survivor and can be taken to a car show today and it will get noticed. But with is age and use there are signs of wear. Please no dreamers. In 1973 the paint was not perfect and neither was the build quality but this truck shows all the originality of its history. It truly needs an owner to continue caring for it the way it has been for the last four decades. Yes there are chips and scratches and some minor parking lot dings but no dents and the pictures speak for themselves. I didn't wash the truck right before pictures were taken or warm the engine up before taking the video. It runs great and drives great especially for its age. Good luck and please email for any questions. Also please don't let my feedback score bother deter you. I've been on ebay for more than ten years with great feedback. The winning bidder of my last item sold on ebay, is a jerk and gave me negative feedback without cause and ebay would not reverse it. I was only able to upload 24 photos on the auction, I have 50 more on my photobucket account go here: Bronco Pics Lastly I posted two videos on youtube. One is a walkaround of the truck, the other is a start up and idle: Bronco Walkaround Bronco Idle
