The Fiero had been sitting for over 20 yrs, we cleaned the gas tank and installed a new fuel pump, brand new tires, a new head gasket and comlpete tune-up, it runs good for what it is, would be a super donor for a kit car project. Maybe we spent to much, but it's only money, time for it to find a new home as we need the space for the next project, No reasonable offer refused - We trade for almost anything with wheels. The history of the Pontiac Fiero actually started with a person that mostof you would have never thought of. In fact a lot of readers may noteven know who he is. His name is John DeLorean. His inspiration forthe car came from a prototype of a car called the Pontiac Banshee.There were several names tossed around for the car but the finaldecision came to be Fiero which is Italian for the word Proud inEnglish. To me that turned out to be a perfect name. The car was tobe a fuel efficient commuter car. But as always we the carenthusiasts had other plans for this car, with it being at that timethe only mid-engine car ever mass produced in all of North America.The car was produced from 1984-1988. There were many models throughits production there was the base model also referred to as the 2M4which translates to 2 seat mid-engine 4-cylinder. Engine type andpower for the base model 2M4 was a 2.5 liter in-line 4 cylinder thatproduced 98Hp and 135FtLb of torque. These numbers may not seem toimpressive unless you remember that the car only had a curb weight of2778lbs. Its size made it fast and agile, and if you are lucky enoughto find one take a look at the price. Many of them sell now for morethan they did brand new. And for good reason. Think about it, howoften do you see one just driving down the road. You see more peopletrying to buy them than you do people trying to sell them. This caris number 5 of my all time favorite American cars. And this car hasone of the most loyal group of followers I have ever seen. The mid-engine design is always a radical and exotic configuration; itwas given this setup to improve the vehicles aerodynamics and give itproper weight distribution. The results were impressive, with the carhaving excellent handing and performance. Mounted transversely in theengine bay was a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine which provided fueleconomy that could rival other cars of its day. With the proper setupand four-speed manual gearbox, the car could achieve 40 mpg on thehighway. The vehicles weighed just under 2600 pounds and had awheelbase that measured a short 93.4 inches. Length was just160.3-inches, meaning there was little room for cargo. It was asports car that had performance characteristics, impressive fueleconomy, and styling that resembled other exotic sports cars of theday, all at a fraction of the cost. Much of the vehicles suspension, powertrain, and drivetrain were shared with other GM production vehicles. The chassis was a space-frame setup with Chevrolet Chevette steering, suspension and brakes. The body was created from Enduraflex plastic body panels with only four paint colors offered at any one time. In 1984, the Fiero was given the honor of pacing the Indy 500.This is a garage kept vehicle.The mileage represented on this vehicle is accurate.This vehicle has no known defects.The exterior of this vehicle is extra clean.Extra clean interior.
