356 CMC SPEEDSTER PORSCHE REPLICA I purchased this Porsche CMC replica several years ago from a gentleman from Maine. He worked on this car planning on keeping it and enjoying it, but his health forced him to sell his “Speedy”. Here is a list of items that he had done to his “dream” car. Sound proof with Dead 80 - Changed to Dellorto 40 carbs -John Connolly at AIRCOOLED.NET set up the Mallory Unitlite electronic distributor, it is the vacuum-centrifugal model – changed starter to “Auto-stick” starter, self supporting, more torque -- new Optima battery and aluminum billet tray -- A-1 Sidewinder exhausts with single pipe out of the middle -- changed the generator to a Bosch alternator -- cocoa mats -- Nardi steering wheel -- engine spec sheet that was provided to me – he also dolled up the engine compartment with some chrome trim. As you can see there wasn’t much not done to make this car reliable and fun to drive. Since I purchased the car I have done the following work to the car: new rear brake drums, shoes, hardware, wheel cylinders and brake backer plates -– replaced rear wheel bearings – replaced all four shocks – new rear tires (front were like new) - replaced all 5 “vintage” gauges with NOS units, the speedometer that was with the car was not working, so i do not know how miles are on this car -- changed front brakes to new disk brakes -- new front wheel bearings – new taillight lenses and chrome surrounds – new chrome horn grilles – new vw shifter – (I didn’t like the Tee shifter) – had a new “red” tonneau cover made – ( I have the original black cover and will send with car) -- I have an interior full car cover that would also be included I have enjoyed this car and it has been trouble free. It has always started and has never “broke” down on me. There is a scrape (was there when I got car) at the right side above the front tire-see picture. There are some “spider webs” in the gelcoat. This car runs and drives well. I have never had it out in the rain or snow. I have always garaged the car. It does not have a top, but it does the Plexiglas type side windows they came with the car – I have never used them. The car currently has Maryland historic license plates. It is register as a 1971 Porsche in the state of Maryland. (Go figure). You would need to make any shipping arrangements; I will assist the transportation company. Or you could pick up the car; it is located in Westminster, Maryland 21157. I also have the following spare parts that I would like to sell to the new buyer if interested; spare transaxle, 4 speed- Bosch newly rebuilt starter- another old starter- set of Kadrons carbs with, manifolds, air cleaners, linkage- the old gauges minus the oil pressure, Keep your VW alive and Dellort Manual (if the bid is right I will throw these items in!)
