Up for auction is a very original 1968 Saab 96 V4 DeLuxe. This car wears its original Hussar Blue color although it has been re-sprayed at some point. It features the DeLuxe trim, rare front bumper bar, optional tachometer, 4 speed column shift transmission, engageable freewheeling clutch, Ford V4 engine and original hubcaps with trim rings. Interior is all there but the seats will need recovering and the dash has some crakes. 65,142 original miles confirmed from most recent title. Originally from Massachusetts, this car was brought to Georgia around 2008 and sat as a project that never got started. The fuel tank has been cleaned and refurbished, timing set, carb adjusted and some electrical gremlins sorted. It runs and drives well. The engine runs cool and it shifts well into all 4 gears plus reverse. Brakes, suspension, tires and exhaust should all be tended to before long travel although it has served well for around town use. Cylinder compression is as follows: Cylinder 1 - 7.5 kg/cm2 Cylinder 2 - 8.5 kg/cm2 Cylinder 3 - 8.5 kg/cm2 Cylinder 4 - 8.0 kg/cm2 Being a Northern car it has suffered some rust. Mainly the bottoms of the left and right door skins plus the driver's side outer rocker (see pictures.) The inner rockers are good as is the floor board. There is some rust at the very rear edge below the spare tire well too. This would be a great town car or a good starting point for a full restoration. Included are all the original Saab owner's manuals. It does have a title from the last owner in Massachusetts but it has never been titled in Georgia where titles are not required for cars older than 25 years.
