Vehicle Detail

To see additional, higher definition pictures click HERE You are bidding on a stunning 1966 Porsche Short Wheelbase Coupe. This special vehicle is presented with a saddle tan interior and a silver exterior. The car is straight, solid and rust free, other than a few minor patches of surface corrosion as noted in the photos. The car drives, rides and handles as good as it looks. This is originally an Arizona car. Since leaving Arizona it has never been driven in the rain, wet or snow and has always been garaged between drives. Exterior: The panels of the car are all straight with no dings or dents and the opening gaps are all even. The car was given a bare metal respray some years ago and the paint remains in excellent overall condition. There are two chips in the paint around the engine lid. The original headlights were upgraded to Bosch H-4 units for superior illumination and better looks. The glass, chrome and rubber are all excellent, although there are minor surface scratches in the driver's door glass and some polishing swirls in the quarter window chrome. Interior: The interior has been completely redone and is in as-new condition. It is finished in the correct materials in saddle tan with German squareweave carpeting. The interior of the car, including the door panels, was completely Dynamatted for sound deadening. An aluminum deadpedal and a set of tan floor mats were added, as were a Nardi steering wheel and three point retractable seatbelts. A period correct AM/FM Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio was added in place of the AM unit and an under-dash cover was added to clean up the area as well as to add two under-dash Alpine speakers for enhanced sound. All additions were done with an eye toward maintaining originality while increasing safety and functionality. Engine: The engine is strong and responsive. It runs beautifully and loves to be driven. The engine was rebuilt by a Porsche specialist. The pistons and cylinders were upgraded from 1600 to 1750 cc's and Weber carburetors were added in place of the Solex units. MSD ignition was also installed. The engine has only 5500 miles on it since its rebuild. Wheels, Tires and Suspension: All of the wheels on the car, including the spare, are the original steel wheels stamped with the month and year of manufacture: 12/65. The tires are Firestones in excellent shape and with little wear. The spare tire is fresh and unused. New correct Koni shock absorbers were installed at all corners and have seen only 1000 miles of use. New suspension bushings were installed at the same time as the Koni shocks. Electrical and Gauges: All electrical components are in excellent shape and fully functional, as are all of the gauges. Manuals and Receipts: The vehicle comes with the original Owner's Manual, the original Maintenance Manual and the original Radio Manual. It also comes with what I believe are all of the receipts for maintenance, parts and labor from when the car was originally sold. Terms and Conditions: The vehicle is being sold "AS-IS" with no warranties, express or implied. I will be happy to answer any questions and to make the vehicle available for inspection. I would encourage all interested buyers to undertake an inspection. Shipping is the sole responsibility of the Buyer. The vehicle must be picked up within ten (10) days of the end of the auction. A deposit of $1000.00 is due within 24 hours of the end of the auction. The balance of the sale price is due within seven (7) days of the end of the auction and must be in the form of a bank wire transfer, cashier's check from a US bank, or cash in person. If the balance is paid via cashier's check, the vehicle will not be released until the check has cleared. This vehicle is also being advertised for sale locally. I reserve the right to end this auction early for this or any other reason. Good luck bidding! On May-16-12 at 07:57:08 PDT, seller added the following information:I've received numerous inquiries about the car and thought I should share the questions and answers. Is it the original engine and is it numbers matching? Yes and no. The engine was rebuilt 5500 miles ago, in 2003. During the rebuild a crack was discovered in the block. A replacement block was located and all of the engine internals and components were swapped over to the replacement block. The Weber carbs and the 1750 cc pistons and cylinders were added at that time. The MSD ignition was added later. Is it the original transmission and is it a 4 or a 5 speed. It is the original transmission. It is a 4 speed. Are the exterior and interior colors original? The exterior was originally a slate blue. It was treated to a bare metal respray in silver. The interior was tan when I bought the car but I cannot say for certain that it was the original color. It was redone in the same saddle tan color. Do you have a buy-it-now price? No. I set a very reasonable reserve which has already been met and I want to see the auction through.
