Vehicle Detail
1967 Volvo 122S "Amazon" coupe with hard-to-find Automatic Transmission Life changes are forcing the sale of my 1967 Volvo. Starts easily, idles without a hiccup, and runs quite smoothly. The transmission (Borg-Warner BW35 just like used in American cars of the era) shifts as it should, shifting smoothly through all gears under light acceleration, changing to sure and firm shifts under hard acceleration. Downshifts properly when asked, and in my experience does not mis-shift or slip. Suspension bushings and shocks are in great condition. Drives very stable and rock-solid even at freeway speeds. All that's left for a complete restoration is front seat covers (Available in exact reproduction from Swedish Treasures or choose your local upholsterer) and paint/body work (see photos). Items addressed include: Full Rebuild of both carburetors including jetsAll coolant hoses replaced, flushing of coolant system Drain and clean of fuel tank New ignition - plugs, plug wires, points, cap & rotorFULL REPLACEMENT OF BRAKING SYSTEM (except power brake booster) - new master cylinder (IPD), Front calipers (rebuilt replacements from Volvo specialist RPR), new rear wheel cylinders and hardware, new pads & shoes, ALL NEW HARD BRAKE LINES, new IPD braided stainless steel flex lines throughout.Fresh adjustment of valve clearance (readjusted in the last 100 miles)Rebuild and cleaning of heater blower New carpeting throughout, including trunk New front kick panelsNew door panels Freshly painted wheels Heater is insanely powerful (go Swedes!). Seat tracks cleaned, rebuilt, and lubricated. Has factory 3-point seat belts with lobster-claw buckles, but the webbing is original and should be replaced. Original headliner intact. Upholstery in the front shows expected wear, and rear seat area shows minimal wear as if it were rarely used. Factory-mounted original exterior mudflaps intact. The previous owner had cut the dash for a DIN-sized radio and installed a modern Pioneer CD head unit with rear 6x9 speakers. I've obtained an uncut, damage free dash for the next owner should you decide to go back to the original 2-shaft radio opening. The car's locational history can be verifiably traced to Mississippi prior to 1997 (last registered in MS 1997 according to window sticker, and dated receipts found under the seats and in door pockets showed as far back as 1992), and Arkansas from 1997-present. Car was idle in storage from 2000 to 2009 when I purchased from last owner. Before that it had served a stint in Seattle, as indicated by a repair tag soldered to the top of the gas tank ("Wes's Radiator Repair Seattle WA") from what appears to be a fuel filler neck repair in its past. Car originally had an underdash A/C unit installed true to its southern roots but the interior evap unit and exterior condenser were removed some time ago by a previous owner. Clear Arkansas title in hand. Car is available for local pickup in Dallas, TX, or I'll work with the shipper of your choice to get it safely to your destination (within reason of course). Buyer is responsible for all shipping and conveyance costs. And now for the legal stuff: Car is provided with no warranty express nor implied. No international bidders please. Payment is to be provided in the form of cash or verifiable cashier's check prior to release to new owner or shipping representative.
