Vehicle Detail
1974 SAAB 99 up for auction. I bought this a couple years ago with intentions of restoring it into an autoX machine. I ended up taking a job on the other side of the country and work far to many hours to pursue this dream. Originally from California and was mechanic owned for a few years. Underside has absolutely NO rust and the body is in great shape. The paint is faded but only has two small rust spots. One on the drivers door in the middle (about 2 inches) and another area (about 4 inches) around the lower passenger side windshield corner. Has the original B motor as far as I can tell and is now coupled to a newer 5spd from a Saab 900. Bilstein shocks in front. Also has slightly different brake setup on the front so that its easier to change pads. It was done by the previous owner using rear brake calipers I think. Never had an issue braking other than getting used to manual brakes and steering. Since I've had it I've added Jamex lowering springs front and rear, flushed all fluids, put in a new radiator/thermostat, checked the water pump, new throwout bearing and slave cylinder/master cylinder seal, and added the wheels which are Rota RB 16x7 with Dunlop Direzzas. It drove well when I had it out a couple years ago but has sat since then. I was able to start it right back up last week and it seems to be running smooth. The head was also shaved and vacuum tested when it was out last and seems to be running good. The timing chain is a little tight as I forgot to adjust the tensioner but it still runs fine. The interior is decent but far from perfect. Comes with a lot of spare parts. The pictures make the car look better than it is as the paint is not that shiny anymore. When I first got it I buffed for 3 days straight and thats why it looks so good. I've put a lot of love into this car but I just can't let it sit any more as its not doing me any good and I'm losing my parking space. Its located in Bath, Maine and shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Good luck bidding. You can contact me by email: jonfontaine AT yahoo.com
