Vehicle Detail

Very well taken care of 1999 Porsche 911 for sale : Custom wheels, tinted windows, smoked tail lights & side markers. This car has an updated factory rebuild engine (Big IMS bearing) with 10k on the rebuild and the trans was replaced at 85K. Runs and drives great! I'm selling it because I just purchased an Audi R8, and I don't really need 2 exotics. I've owned the car for 5 years, and have the title in hand. I have a walk around video of the car on Youtube, but cannot get the link to work. I will try to add it in the updates section later, or email me and I will send you the link. Thank you, and good luck. On Apr-20-12 at 08:05:59 PDT, seller added the following information: I've been asked about this a couple of times, so here's the answer I've been giving: The early type 996 911's had a design flaw (Boxster's too) that provided insufficient lubrication to the bearing on the Intermediate Shaft. Under warranty, Porsche did an update to the engines that addressed this problem. They put a much larger than original bearing into the engines, and that update became standard on the later model years. If you're looking at other 911's (1999 - 2001) this is a pretty important point to look at. It's not uncommon to see cars with 50,000 miles on them with catastrophic engine failure. This engine has the new design larger bearing. It is not the original engine that came in the car. If you search for information about IMS bearing failure, there's quite a bit out there... I'd rather not reveal the reserve price, but I would say that it's competitive and fair given the work that's been done to the car. The major problems that these model 911's are known to have, have been addressed.
