Vehicle Detail

1949 WILLYS MB WWII Army Jeep! Of course there wasn’t a 1949 MB – but that is what we created! THIS JEEP is NOT an “Authentic WWII” Jeep, so if that is what you seek – don’t bother to read on. Maybe like us, you love the old WWI Jeeps but can’t spend 20 Grand… that’s what triggered our mission. We started by finding and buying a MID-WEST CJ2A that spent pretty much its entire life in Arizona and Nevada. (photo of it in Dark Green with White Wheels). Rumor had it this Jeep was used in a few movies back in the day (anyone say: Kelly’s Heroes). The previous owner bought it and planned to restore it, after many years he was ready to let it go. He had rebuilt the Engine and put in a new Radiator, and converted it to 12 Volt system with Alternator. We bought it in this condition, pretty much “rust-free” but with a few dents and dings (Jeep in Dark Green-white wheels). We CHOSE to leave that, so it looked more like a Combat (Field) Jeep – not a “SHOW” JEEP! So, HERE’s what we DID to make it a WWII “REPLICA”: changed out the Grille to WWII Style (new), added the WWII style Lights (new), WWII Windshield (new) and cowl seal (new), WWII windshield wipers (new), a WWII Steering Wheel (new) and Horn Button/Wiring (new), mounted WWII Type horn (used) under the hood, WWII type Gauges (new) except for the Speedo (used) which has a crack in the glass (but we liked it for a touch of Combat look). We bought 5 NEW – WWII style NDT Combat Tyres and Tubes. We put a WWII Original Hood (used), we took off the tailgate and welded in a full back – then mounted WWII Type Rear lights (new), Bumperettes (new), Spare Tire carrier (not WWII Type) and Jerry Can and Carrier (original), we added the Grab Bars (new), and Footman Loops (new), canvas Safety-Straps(new) and a period WWII Tow Chain (for looks). We cut down the existing driver’s seat to match WWII type and installed a WWII Passenger seat (new)… plus all new Canvas. We put on the WWII “Willy’s” Data Plates (new-repro). We mounted the Blackout Light on the fender (Original) and WWII Type Latches (new) and the side reflectors (new). We chose NOT to replace side panel with “Cut-Outs” (which is available) as we would have to cut the floor and install a WWII Type Gas Tank… so, we left the Gas fill “exposed” (we felt it was easier to refuel like this – and just HIDE it with a Ammo BAG at events). She was stripped down to Bare Metal, then Painted the “Correct” Willy’s WWII OD Green Color. We added stars and other markings for my Dads Unit (4th Cavalry and then 4th Constabulary-796 MP Bttn – VAC; Vienna Area Command – Occupation Duty). We then “Christened it” with the name “Hustle Up” ( a term my Dad used quite often when we were growing up) You can change it or leave as is. MECHANICALLY: she has a Rebuilt Motor (with approx. 3,000 miles on it) as stated and runs FANTASTIC! We have had her on the road for pretty long trips and used it at WWII Events and Parades. She will cruise at about 40 MPH “comfortably” (if you know these old Jeeps, that’s the sweet-spot). She will go FASTER for short runs! ALL GAUGES are functioning properly! NEW ITEMS: Shocks – Brakes - Brake Lines - Wheel Bearings – Hoses - Alternator –Battery - Plugs and Wires -Electrical Wiring - Filters - Fuel Sending Unit - Gauges - and many other small odds-n-ends. It is fully Greased with Fresh Fluids all around! ! The Exhaust is CJ2A type and was good, so we did NOT change it out to WWII type. We undercoated the very bottom but not the fender wells. (as you’d “see it”). We added a “Field Improvised’ Canvas Top (we saw this in a photo), but it is pretty easy to add the correct type top. It does NOT have a Rear Seat (we just didn’t get round to adding it). We have enjoyed the HECK outta this ole girl, but sadly, new business proposition dictates the sale. We HATE to see it GO! New Owner will be THRILLED. NOTE: we are NOT looking to “Misrepresent” this Vehicle or “Mislead” anyone. THIS IS NOT an Authentic Willy’s from WWII PERIOD. IT IS A REPLICA so to speak, and a Re-Enactors Dream! Again, if YOU are a serious WWII JEEP GUY – THIS AINT YER JEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Serious Buyers welcome to SEE and TEST DRIVE our ’49 Willys MB. Has Clear-GOOD Title, registered in PA as an "Antique". $1,000.00 Deposit to be paid upon winning bid (via PayPal) with balance due at time of possession/pick up. Other arrangements can be discussed. YES - it RUNS very well, Starts up EVERY time (with a few pumps of Gas and a touch of Choke). We have driven (yes driven) this Jeep to several events that were as far away as 4 Hours, WITHOUT any ISSUES or TROUBLE! I do NOT know the actual "overall" milage (sorry). I have to sell for CASH - so, even though I've got plenty of OFFERS to TRADE, I am sorry - no can do.On Mar-30-12 at 12:04:45 PDT, seller added the following information:Hi Again - to all the calls I have got, YES - the 4WD WORKS fine as it should! This little baby will just about go anywhere in the dirt, mud, snow... IT IS A BLAST!On Apr-19-12 at 07:59:00 PDT, seller added the following information:Hello Again: in response to several calls, YES, the Jeep goes with what you see; Gas Can, Spare Tire and there is the Pintle Hook on the back with a chain. The wipers ARE the Manual Tandem WWII set up. The "Field Top" does go with it too.
