Designed, engineered, and produced from the original Model A blueprints, this Ford factory-authorized reproduction is powered by a reliable 2.3l 4-cylinder borrowed from the Pinto and produces 88hp for capable acceleration and great performance. Paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox, this Shay can be driven comfortably at urban speeds and - with a full suite of power front disc brakes and rack and pinion steering - is as easy to motor as a modern car with a standard transmission. The convertible top is in excellent condition and folds away for a fun open air experience. Seating for 4 includes lap belts for safety, even in the rear rumble seat. A contemporary radio works excellently and the interior, exterior, and trim are all in great condition. Produced for only 3 model years ('78-'80), only 5000 of these treasured Shays were ever manufactured and this example comes by way of a private collector in New York. As a licensed Florida automobile dealer, we must collect sales tax and the appropriate amount for tag/title for vehicles registered in the state of Florida. If you are not a Florida resident, and you are driving the vehicle away from our lot, you will be required to pay your state's sales tax up to 6%. We occasionally buy our cars from new car dealers, and in rare cases the dealer has to make a payoff to a finance company and wait for the title, which could be delayed up to 15 days. If you would like documentation, contact us, and we will gladly get it for you. Because of our local customers, we must reserve the right to cancel any auction early. This will be rare because we want to give everyone a fair chance. So don't be afraid to bid. We drive our cars (wouldn’t you?) and allow local customers to as well, so actual mileage may be slightly more at time of sale unless otherwise specified.
