Vehicle Detail
I have decided to sell my TR3 after 10 years of So Cal driving. I have another project TR4A in the paint shop plus am moving out of state. I figure it is time for someone else to own this great car. I have enjoyed driving up and down PCH and have done many driver friendly upgrades that I will try to mention. This quality "FRAME OFF RESTORATION" was done 20+ years ago and has held up extremely well. The car was restored to period correctness inside and out. Of course the car is not perfect because it has been a driver since restored. The lacquer paint job was showing some wear with some swirls, chips, and a few parking lot dings. I paid a professional detailer to come in and and bring the paint back to life, and they worked miracles. I was thinking of getting the car repainted, but it really looks good now. There are some small stone chips on the front shroud, the door jams show some wear, and there was a minor paint repair on the bottom of the passenger door( see photos). The interior is great, and the original carpet is starting to fade in the exposed areas. The leather seats look new and are correct with the white piping. My car has the little leather bench seat behind the front that my kids (when about 6 years old) could sit on. I'm 6'2" 230 and fit in the car comfortably. The chrome is excellent . If your in the Southern California area I have been taking the car to "CARS and Coffee" in Irvine almost every Saturday for the last few years. I belong to SCTOA ( So cal Triumph owners association) and have participated in several events over the years. The majority of the work done in the last 10 years has been done by myself or Walter Kelly at Britalia in fullerton. List of things done to the car since I have owned it, most in the last couple years: MECHANICALS: - 5 speed (W58) converstion done last month. Rebuilt transmission from Anaheim gear. This works fantastic and turns about 2800 rpms at 70+, new clutch, (original 4 speed works fine and comes with car). - Radiator recored with no hole for crank, car runs consistently at 180 degrees - New water pump, belt, hoses - Exhaust manifold blasted and painted, complete front to back stainless exhaust system - New leaf springs in rear, new poly bushings up front, new ball joints, new U-joints, clutch slave, brake master cylinder - Tires are Vredestein sprint S80's, 165x15's and have approximately 10,000 miles on them, just balanced and rotated. - Spin on oil filter adapter, High torque starter (original comes with), converted to alternator (original generator comes with), electronic "Petronics" ignition. - Battery new on 11/2010, new motor mounts, - The motor runs fantastic and I have put approximately 19,000 miles on it in 10 years. The the top end was done during the initial restoration and hardened valve guides were used so it runs well on unleaded fuel. It does leave a few drops of oil, but if a TR isn't leaking some, it must be out!! The oil pressure stays between 50 and 80 lbs. when driving. The car has never smoked or burned oil. INTERIOR/EXTERIOR: - New tonneau cover, top looks new (except for 1 small hole on rail) and I never used it once in 10 years, plus a newer stick cover. - Speedo was rebuilt approximately 1 year ago and recalibrated, it was showing about 15 mph faster than actual speed. - Heater core was redone and works well, in other words the heat trickles out on top of your legs This car has been a very reliable, head turning, and fun car to cruise around in. Now with the 5 speed, it is a great long drive freeway cruiser. The 3, 4, and 6 guys in the club with overdrives or 5 speeds will no longer leave you behind on your club drives. The enhancements I have done to the car have been to make it a more reliable cruiser, but can be easily put back to original show condition. This car is a fantastic driver and very solid. It originally came from the mid-west, but was only driven in summer ( that's why such low miles). These cars have been going up in value as of late and some are getting crazy. You can spend between 30 and 60 grand on these cars, but that would be a show quality car. This car is about the nicest driver around and is very reasonably priced for what you will get. It was listed a week ago and did not reach its reserve, however the reserve has been lowered this go around. Get it this time or you won't see it for sale again, I'll take it with me, not going to give it away. Please send me any questions and if your local and would like to drive the car let me know. The sale could end early if sold locally. I can assist with shipping. I have most of the receipts for work done, and some old pictures from the restoration,,,,,,good luck, you will love this car!!!!!!!
