Vehicle Detail
We are sadly having to sell our beautifully restored 1987 VW Westfalia, it literally looks better than a brand new van. This is a 1 owner locally owned van, was purchased brand new at Kimball motors in San Luis Obispo, Ca. All services has been done at German Auto in San Luis Obispo, California since new. I have all services records. It has a clean title, never in any accident ever, not a dent on it. Registration was just renewed in January/2012. Interior is in very good condition, no tears in the seats, no stains in the bedding, dash is in excellent shape, canvas 3 window top has been replaced. Full interior has been shampood . All the curtains., rear bug screens are clean and is all there. Kenwood am/fm/cd/mp3 hookup (Not pictured) but is included are the Thule ski racks and a fully enclosed awning. The second fold away table is also included the one that fits behind the driver's seat (not pictured) Original owner's manual, service, dealer prep documents are also included (not pictured) We spent over $7000 just in paint restoration, the original clear coat was fading . Everything was removed, seals, lights, handles, glass, etc....Dupont PPG Chroma base , the best paint available was used, 2 stage base coat, clear coat, color sanded and buffed out to perfection. Even the front and rear bumpers was color sanded and buffed out , the entire paint job looks like glass. It was repainted the original Wolfram Grey metallic.(this cost does not even include all the new parts, windshield, windshield nozzles, Gowesty utility hookups, refinished propane tank and valves, seals, radiator flush, brake flush, new belts, etc...) Propane tank was totally dismantled and repowder coated and has a brand new filler valve to be compliant with all propane filling stations, I just had it filled. Chassis and exterior body is 100% rust free, and has been fully undercoated and clean. 164k documented original miles, 4 speed manual transmission, clutch has been replaced at 82k miles and still in excellent shape, 2.1 liter water cooled motor, engine has had the heads, valves, gaskets replaced at 100k miles, compression is excellent in all cylinders. It does not leak a drop of oil. Brand new exhaust, catalytic converter 4k miles ago, It runs perfectly(strong and quiet) and shifts perfectly in all gears. Updated Bosch fuel injection system. Passed california state emissions on 03/29/2012 without any problems. The Volkswagon mechanics there commented on how beautiful the van was. Power steering, power brakes, power mirrors, horn, all lights, windshield wipers(brand new), rear wiper, washer fluids all flushed and filled, turn signals, (everything still works perfectly) The entire air conditioning system was removed over 20 years ago as it was never adequate since new. Heater works perfectly as well as all the fan functions in all speeds. All the belts are new, all the door handle seals are new, brand new windshield and moulding, full brake fluid flushed, radiator flushed, front and rear brakes have over 90% life left in them. Refrigerator works, burners works, water faucet works, brand new GoWesty utility hookups with quick disconnect valve (everything works) video about Gowesty hookups: http://www.gowesty.com/ec_view_details.php?id=23581&category_id=23580&category_parent_id= http://www.gowesty.com/ec_view_details.php?id=23579&category_id=&category_parent_id= http://www.gowesty.com/ec_view_details.php?id=23580&category_id=&category_parent_id= GoWesty 15 inch alloys with Michelin Hydroedge tires still have over 95% of treadwear left in them, the spare tire is brand new. It has Bilstein shock absorbers so it handles really well. The van drives 65-70mph without any problem, no drifting like the typical vanagon with stock tires/shocks. All the front ball joints, power steering rack , and the tie rod ends were replaced in 2010 and are in excellent shape. This van has had a complete and thorough inspection. This van absolutely does not need anything. We have gone to the extreme restoring and have replaced everything to ensure a safe vehicle. You will not find a westy in this nice of condition especially at my Reserve price, the only other place is perhaps at GoWesty where their prices start at $45,000 for something as comparable as mine. Please serious bidders only, if you have any questions please send me an email. I welcome all vehicle inspections prior to the end of my auction. I will help the winning bidder find a reputable shipper, however I encourage you to find one on your own.
