Vehicle Detail
Beautiful 1991 Saab 900S 5 Speed Convertible Ready for Spring Featuring air conditioning, power top, windows and locks. Lots of recent upgrades, both mechanical and cosmetic. My goal was to create a very nice, daily driver convertible. I specifically selected a 900S for their reputation for longevity, owing to the less-stressed nature of the non-turbo S motor. This is a sporty, fuel-efficient convertible with a real back seat and trunk. A fun, dependable daily driver and weekend cruiser that gets smiles everywhere she goes. Since June of 2011, the following upgrades / service have been carried out: New repaint with high quality, two stage base coat / clear coat, with excessive trunk badging deleted and new hood badge. New Softop including window surround Front end bushings as required Replaced mass air flow meter New heater control valve Coolant system flush & service New tires and front end alignment about 3K miles ago New Michelin Premium Wiper Blades New Sony Detachable-Face Head Unit wit CD Slot, USB Port and Aux Jack (I-Pod?), sounds great, even with the top down on the freeway. Power antenna mast is new and works perfectly. Recent oil / filter change General Notes: While the air conditioning in these cars was never something to write home about, it does work reasonably well and keeps the car cool, even during a trip to Las Vegas during the summer. I am not sure if the cruise control is working or not as I have not attempted to use it. I had a plastic dash cap installed and while the fit is not 100%, it is a great improvement over the slightly cracked surface that lies beneath. The trunk area is clean, carpeted and in good condition: spare tire and jack all present and in good condition. The original alloy wheels are all present and are in good, unmolested condition. The bumpers, in my opinion, should be re-finished to match the caliber of the rest of the car. Not terrible, but I'm picky and I would do it were I to keep the car. Some of the side window / top of door moldings are less than perfect, but easy to find new or used and easy to remove / replace. The fuel filler door is missing the little rubber 'teets' that allow the filler door to sit flush with the right-rear quarter panel. This are inexpensive and easily installed. You're gonna love the teets. Interior: As I mentioned, the softop is new as of August 2011 (along with the fabric material around the rear glass window, the replacement of which is often skipped to save money), however the interior layer / headliner is original and in good condition. The dash has no cracks as it has a vacu-formed dash cap installed now, but as mentioned earlier, the fit is presentable, but less than perfect. All electric windows and power door locks are working as they should. All of the leather seats are original and in good condition, with the patina of age one would expect with a 21 year old car, with good leather, springs, foam and general support. Color is actually a very dark grey. Both front seats have a chafe area at the bottom of each outboard bolster, but not worn through and continued use is not affected. The seats are among the most comfortable I've experienced and the driver's seat is heated and works great. The rear seats appear to have been very lightly used. There is no evidence of the car having been left to bake in the sun for days on end, as is often the fate of so many Southern California cars. This is a no smoke, pets, kids or eating in car. There is one small tear in the otherwise clean carpeting, about the size of a quarter, near the drivers seat, that is easily repaired. The center console, with its large storage capacity, is also in good condition. The front and rear door panels are the original ones and are in good condition with leather door caps as original, however the center velour covered panel on the passenger side door is less well fastened than I would like. The elastic-banded map pockets on the backs of the front seats are in good condition as well. The steering wheel is in very good condition, with a thick, leather wrapped rim, which was an option. Both horn buttons are present, which is seldom the case. Summary: With reasonable car and feeding, this car will provide many thousands of miles and years of enjoyment. She is currently registered through February 2012 and comes with a clear California title in my name. The car's 2 original keys which fits all the locks and the ignition are included.
