Vehicle Detail
1977 PONTIAC TRANS AM "SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT" SE 403 4BBL V8 (6.6L), Automatic (turbo 350), Power steering, Power front disc brakes, Power windows, Factory AC, Factory tach, Electric rear window defroster, T-tops, Shaker hood, Buckets/console, AM/FM/CD, 15 inch Honeycomb wheels, 10 bolt rear w/2.41 posi trac, PHS documentation, California Car I bought the car from a less than honest seller in Missouri right before X-mas and had it delivered to Virginia the first of January. The seller said it had a LH exhaust leak, may have a leaking RH valve cover gasket, rode well and just needed cleaned up. Pictures he had did not show things wrong with the car. The following list are things I have found wrong with the car besides what the seller told me: (1) Power windows do not work (RH side moves very slow) (2) Windshield was cracked (3) Trunk key lock assembly is broken out (4 ) Heater blower and controls do not work (5) Front marker/running/turn signal lights missing (6) Transmission shifts OK in Drive, slips in reverse, tranny fluid is milky (7) Interior needs replaced (8) Soft spot on floor where front passenger feet would set about 1 foot square (9) RH fender was replaced (10) Original Olds 403 motor and TH350 transmission are JASPER replacements Nov. 2005. (11) Headlight foot switch bad but all lights do work (12) Piece of duct under dash fell off during shipment (13) RH side of motor has coolant leak drip - may be a freeze plug (14) Temperature gauge works sometimes (15) LH exhaust leak right off manifold clamp in exhaust pipe (16) Gas cap missing (17) Hood release handle not mounted correctly in grill (18) Dash cut where radio goes Things I have done to the car: (1) Windshield replaced (2) Original correct GM gas cap replaced (3) AC Delco trunk key lock set bought but not put on (4) set of 1977 T/A front marker/running/turn signal lights with wiring bought on eBay - needs installed. (5) Carburetor rebuilt, (6) Cap, rotor, spark plugs, air filter replaced VIN number is 2W87K7N131077, cowl tag reads ST77 2FS87 N 083946BDY TR 19N A51 19L 19UPNT 11B A31 WS4 BLK You can type the VIN number in on Yahoo and find a previous ad with pics for this car listing it for $23,000 when it was in great shape. I am trying to accurately list the real condition of the car so the buyer will have no surprises. The car needs work but it is a solid restoration starter. The body is 99% dent, ding and rust free. The chassis is solid other than the one soft spot I found on the front passenger floor side where the T-top or window gasket leaked and kept the carpet wet. I have checked the underside areas known to rust on these cars and this car is amazingly SOLID! I was hoping to get a car I could drive and slowly restore but it needs a bit more work now than what I wanted to spend time and money on. Car is being sold as is. Feel free to ask any questions about the condition of the car. Hopefully my description and pictures will show accurately the shape it is in.
