Vehicle Detail
1968 MG B Roadster with Hard Top For Sale. Too much work owning my own business, too many toys, too little time and must sell. I've owned since 2006 and have enjoyed this dependable, classic convertible. 3,128 miles driven by me in almost 6 years. All maintenance done by my MG mechanic. No, not a Pebble Beach trailer queen, but is a good 10-20 footer. Has always been dependable and a lot of fun. Minor dings, scratches, etc to be expected from a 44 year old car. Did I mention that this car does not need to be smogged? Condition: Paint/Body/Chrome: Decent, but not perfect. Minor paint scratches, bubbles and gouge to passenger side caused from prior owner. This is a dependable driver with pitting, scuffs, scrapes and pitted chrome bumpers and OE style luggage rack. Stainless steel exhaust. Black & Red MG center badge on grille Engine: 1798cc, 4 speed manual, with down draft weber carb with manual choke, runs very well. Starts up quickly, with no hesitation, every time and DOES NOT run hot. (I know my limitations, and this was serviced by local MG mechanic since I bought it in 2006.) Chrome air filter, valve cover, heater and brake pedal box. I had a cooling overflow tank installed. Oil cooler installed as well. Top: New Moss black vinyl top in very good condition on black powdercoated frame. No rips or tears. Minor scuffing on clear windows. Comes up and down easily. (Prior owner didn't believe in convertible tops. My wife insisted.) Have black vinyl covered fiberglass hard top with glass rear and side port hole windows. I had all 3 pieces of glass replaced, and since have noticed a crack in side porthole. Easy fix. Minor crack in hardtop from flexing? Interior: Black vinyl seats with headrests from later model MG B, both in great condition. Black vinyl dash in perfect condition. Carpet interior and trunk carpet kit is ok. Appears original. Not the best, but not bad, either. Center console with padded armrest and storage cubby in very good shape. Actually has working AM/FM/8 Track radio. (Yep, bought some 8 tracks just to fit the era.) All windows roll down and side vents open/close/lock. Leather Nardi steering wheel. Black Amco MG logo rubber mats. Electrical & Braking System: Unlike most British cars, all electronic items/lights/brakes/guages DO work! My mechanic knows his stuff. (I've got the receipts to prove it.) Was converted to single 12 volt battery with battery cut off switch by prior owner. Battery is regularly charged. Tires/Wheels: Has 5 (original?) painted 60? spoke wire wheels with center knock off and hammer. 5 Michelin 175/70 R14 radial tires in good condition. Trigard universal car cover included, too. I have the title. No engine number or body numbers. (Removed 2 owners ago (in Garden City, Kansas) to avoid smog?). Prior owner to me was long time family friend. I was always confused by vin #. Registered in CA and valid till November 2012. Registered as 1966 when I purchased it, but dash, 18 GF engine #, Triplex Glass #'s, two windshield wipers, etc clearly indicate an early 1968 production model MG B Roadster. Payment via Paypal with $500.00 deposit due within 24 hours. Shipping to be determined based upon carrier costs. I'll help, but will not personally deliver across the US. On Mar-04-12 at 18:16:52 PST, seller added the following information: Additional info per the questions: Soon uploading pics of undercarriage by engine, complete with the standard issue fine patina of oil acting as a rust repellant. Also, a picture of the underside of the gas tank showing minor rust. Rocker panels are all solid, except the passenger side where the 84 year old prior owner backed into a post. No bondo, bubbling or rust here. I see minor paint bubbling on the drivers side seam between the windshield and hood. Again, this is a 44 year old car that since 1994 as been a Southern California High Desert car with minimal rust that would be expected from humid climates. On Mar-05-12 at 09:53:58 PST, seller added the following information: Ok, I've maxed out at 24 pictures that eBay will allow. My MG won't sit still too long to smile for 1,001 pics. ;) Rockers, floor panels, wheel wells are structurally sound. I see minimal rust in wheel wells underneath, which if I only had a powerwasher, I'd have done this so the oil/rust repellant would be cleaned off. As far as I can tell, why I do not know, the dashboard VIN is from an MG C. The prior owner (our adopted Grandfather) sold me this MG prior to him dying and I never got that question answered.
