Vehicle Detail

This very cool looking, natural "Patina" Classic could be yours!!! Registered until February 2013 Up for auction is a 1958 Edsel Ranger. It is an early production car out of San Jose at only number 495 built at that plant. It is kinda a bare bones car with manual brakes, manual steering, no back up lights etc. The car left the factory with the dreaded "teletouch drive" that was the biggest problem with the cars when new. when I got it she had a lever on the floor to shift it. I got rid of that and I installed a 1959 Edsel Steering column and wheel. It is now a lever shift automatic, and that lever will never let you down like a "teletouch" WILL The Engine is rebuilt 1968 390 with 30 over pistons, 10-10 crank etc. Runs very good and very quietly, and has lots of power. It still sports the original valve covers. We replaced the flex plate with one out of a 1968 also so it could use the later, trouble free-er starters as well (also installed) The car has new... Front and rear trans seal Vacuum advance Wheel cylinders Brake shoes Brake hoses (3) Starter Gas cap Air and fuel filter Fuel pump Rubber fuel line Freeze Plugs (brass) Belt & Radiator hoses Thermostat New heater hoses (bypassed, not sure of condition of heater core, but they look functional) Parts rebuilt... Radiator (correct Edsel specific one) Master cyl Carburetor (autolite 4 bbl) I also restored the grill and headlight rings. The center grill has some dings, the outers are pretty nice. Brake lights and turn signals work, headlights do not, I think it needs a switch. Exhaust new when parked, still in great shape. The eng hot light will work if you modify the connector or replace the sending unit with another. The GEN light and Oil press do not work. I think the Generator is not charging because the battery was too weak to start it. I think the problem is in the Voltage regulator. I bench tested the Generator prior to installation. It will have another battery when you pick it up as well as it will have a set of black wall tires that are road worthy, not just the rollers I have on it now. It will also have 4 dog dish/poverty style hub caps included. Interior was redone in all black before it was parked in 1989. most of it is still very nice, the headliner is great! drivers seat is very hard and cracking. All other seats seem fine. Rear carpet is good, drivers carpet falling apart. All the wind lace is falling apart. Factory non paded dash One sun visor is in the truck, it was not installed when I got the car, so I left it that way. Gas gauge works, gas tank was dropped and cleaned out and re-installed. All glass good except right rear door glass, it is flat glass and most shops will do it for $100 or less. CA black plate car, then blue plates. I do not have the black plates, but I do have the blue ones and if the buyer is a CA resident I will include the plates and the documentation you should be able to use to get the blue ones DMV cleared and issues to the car. No Major rust issues, has some bubbles here and there, but nothing real bad. I do believe that the Pacer trim on the fenders and doors was installed when new. I took one piece off and re-installed it. When I did I found it had the original paint under it and was nice. Since these parts were installed it had been painted white, then painted black. Then you have to remember this car was parked in 1989 so these 2 paint jobs were done well before then. I bought the car to save it from being parted out, it had been sitting since 1989 in Northridge. This car drives GREAT!!! Beware, it has some serious POWER also!!! I can attest to that after driving it around the 10 acre ranch for about 10 minutes. very easy to turn the tires! Email all questions - As you can see the car is in good company with many of its brothers and sisters... Over all a nice starter Edsel that I would be willing to drive anywhere after getting the charging system and headlights working. Can deliver in the lower 48, email me your location and I will give you a price. For instance, Oklahoma City OK $600! Amarillo TX $525! Little Rock AR $900! Jacksonville FL $1,500(2,400 miles!) I prefer locations along I 40 but I do go other places, just email for rates to you! CLEAR CURRENT CALIFORNIA TITLE IN MY NAME IN MY HANDS!!! On Mar-13-12 at 23:16:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Just a note, after 10 emails wondering about the other Edsels in the yard, sorry, at this time this is the only one for sale. Some of the others will be for parts, some to restore and some to be used to make a good driver car like this for others to enjoy as much as I enjoy my Edsels! Thanks for looking, happy bidding. Also please note, the car is currently in Oak Hills CA 92344 and can be picked up there or in Covina CA 91724 Happy Bidding!!!
