Anderson1951 store 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Fastback California Classic Muscle Car in Very Nice Condition 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Fastback Rust Free California Black Plate car with a freshly rebuilt 390 big block Automatic. Nicely equipped with dual exhaust, factory air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power front drivers seat. Engine and transmission were removed professionally rebuilt and replaced after detailing the engine compartment. From the vin info, it seems this X code Galaxie was born with a 352 4V instead of the 390 4V Z code it has in it now, when built at the Los Angeles plant. I purchased this car from the California desert area and as such, it was in virtually rust free condition (minor surface rust only). It came to me in a bronze color with a Palamino XL bucket seat interior. After months of looking at other cars of this model, I decided to make a change to the classic black on black color scheme. No major bodywork was required just some minor filler applied prior to a coat of epoxy primer and several coats of single stage hardened enamel, color sanded smooth and polished to a high lustre. The black is a bit dusty in the photos but it will be again detailed prior to delivery to it's new owner to give the best impression. There was a broken speedo/odo which I replaced so true miles are unknown. Obviously not 3 miles. Codes are: body:63c color:P trim:89 date:19c dso:71 (Los Angeles) axle:1 trans:4 Warranty number (VIN) 4J68X154936 / * Engine was fitted with a new Summit 600 cfm electric choke carburetor (runs better than the Holley I have on my other car) and vintage Cobra air cleaner and new filter. Starts instantly and runs smoothly. * Water pump is new along with all hoses, belts and fuel pump. * The radiator cleaned and reconditioned prior to installation. * The power steering pump was rebuilt. * Brakes were completely rebuilt, front and back, including new wheel cylinders, master cylinder, shoes and hardware. Stops straight and true. * Shocks replaced front and back but I probably will change out the rear air shocks for original replacements. * Instrument cluster partially restored and dash capped. All instruments and guages work. * Gas tank was sent out and cleaned, fuel lines and filter replaced. * No fluid leaks anywhere. * Exhaust is older and does not run out behind the car with chrome tips. Hit the buy it now and I will remedy this with a brand new dual Flowmaster system front to back and your choice of pipe tip ends, installed by the best exhaust shop in LA. $600 value. * All new weatherstrip everywhere. * Interior in above average condition with very nice original front seat upholstery, new rear seat upholstery, headliner and high quality carpet. Door panels are presentable with few defects. * Trunk lined to give a finished look. * Spare tire and jack assembly in trunk. * Tires in above average condition with plenty of tread remaining. * Glass in nice all around with only 1 small bb pit in the windshield. * Front and rear bumpers rechromed and shine well but are not super high end triple plate. Couple of items yet to be attended to as seen in the photos: * I have not tried to get the A/C system working although all the parts are there except for 1 hose fitting. * The original radio will not fire up but is presentable. No antenna mounted for esthetic reasons. Sound system is such a personal choice. * I did not yet install a few of the trim mouldings (front brow mouldings for example) and am waiting to receive a few other minor parts which I will install time permitting. * I would do a final wheel alignment check before any high speed maneuvers are attempted as this car has only seen brake testing speeds so far (40 mph). * Not sure of how much of these items I will finish, but I do work on this car daily and any extra parts I discover will be in the trunk. * Plates currently on the car are for show only and are not included in the sale, although the unrestored California black plates which were registered to the car when I got do go with in case a California buyer would like to try the YOM program and get the plates restored. Otherwise, you may wish to resell them here on Ebay. This car is very, very nice, with thousands invested so far but not absolutely perfect like you might expect to see in a nationally televised auction you may be familiar with. My experience over the last 40 years of driving and working on older cars is that they are a constant work in progress. I've done my best to describe the car to the best of my knowledge but encourage you to check the revisions section as more details come to my mind. I encourage you to either inspect car youself or send a friend or professional inspection company to do it for you before you bid. I have access to a hoist for chassis inspection by appointment.
