SEE MY OTHER AUCTIONS FOR MORE VINTAGE CAR PARTS AND ACCESSORIES After selling some of the highest quality and hardest to find car parts on ebay for over 14 years I have retired and am now winding down and selling off the very last of my vintage parts. Most of them have been in the garage for 50 years or more. Their "condition", even though the part might be new old stock does not necessarily mean that it looks like it was made yesterday. Keep in mind that there may be some (and may not) minor flaws (surface rust, nicks, etc) in the part simply from age and many years of storage. NO PAYPAL. This particular auction is for a nice 1963 Volvo 544 B18 2 Door Sedan as shown. It is almost 50 years old. No reserve. This is a good original car for a low price. This is the story: Fresh off of a South Georgia Plantation. I purchased the car from supposedly the 2nd owner who purchased it from a lady Plantation owner who bought it new. It was kept inside for most of it's life. The original owner passed away and the lady I bought it from bought it because it was "cute" but knew nothing about it. She had it painted because she didn't like the original darker tan color. (Repaint is strictly an amateur old fashioned thick enamel finish over the original paint - the painter must have thought thicker is better and it was better to paint everything including chrome, rubber, etc). She also had the interior redone. (The interior is actually quite nice - a high quality perforated 2 tone tan soft thick naugahyde vinyl material was used). She sold it to me because she got a divorce and didn't want her ex to get it. She of course hates him. I am 70 years old and do not need the car (and others I have). The odometer shows around 50000 miles - have no idea how close that is to being correct and it looks like the complete gauge cluster may have been replaced. Paperwork that is included: Clear Georgia title showing the correct serial number 378632. Various South Georgia repair/maintenance bills dating from 1989 up through 1997. The car was parked not running for about 3 or 4 years when I purchased it. It is in good running and driving condition now. The engine runs like a Swiss watch. No smoke, no leaks. Very strong running. At some time the original SU dual carbs were removed and replaced with a British Ford carb, using the original Volvo intake manifold. I wasn't too sure about that setup but it runs perfect - actually better than the dual carbs, and gets better mileage. The carb was recently rebuilt. The 4 speed transmission shifts very well with all syncros intact and working well. The original Volvo tag states: Serial # 378632, Color 72, Type 11244D, upholstery 37-194. The following are the things that have been done in the last few weeks: New battery, all 4 new brake wheel cylinders and master cylinder, valves adjusted, new rebuilt original fuel pump, new single wire Delco alternator with internal voltage regulator, original gas tank was taken to a professional shop for a couple of small leaks, where the tank was purged, leaks welded up and the entire bottom fiberglassed just for good measure. Exhaust is good, old but no leaks or rot. Brakes are good but will need adjusting, as the pedal is at about half way. Glass is all good. The lights all work, the heater fan works, the wipers work, but no park position, the temperature gauge works, the fuel gauge does not, horn does not, (don't think a horn is actually there), brake lights work, turn signals work, idiot light and oil pressure light work, radio does not work. Forgot to see if the speedo works - might, might not. It did when I hooked up a drill to it. All rubber body trim/seals are mostly hard and should be replaced. The car is basically quite solid with some bottom issues - The drivers side floor pans were cut out on the very bottom and very heavy metal welded in - actually a very solid job. The passenger side bottoms had the same heavy metal welded in over the original pans, as the originals only have some small holes. The left rear pan under the rear seat bottom has a hole in it and the trunk has a small hole in it right at the very bottom of the cavity where the spare tire fits. The bottom of the car has some scale rust as shown but is actually better than it looks. All in all a good car that is a good driver and is a very good looker. I have driven it down the road for a few miles and wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere, but that's me - I like adventures and take tools with me. I would not recommend driving it a long distance for anyone else - it should be trailered mainly because of the tires - they have very good tread but are probably at least 20 years old. It is of course best to come and see the car personally before bidding on it. NO PAYPAL on this transaction. Send any kind of check or money order upon completion of the sale. Balance is due in full via mail after the auction ends. Car muct be removed from my property within 30 days. Email me for any questions you may have. Good period survivor. Everything is described in detail to the best of my ability with good photos and it is the responsibility of the bidder to determine reasonable values and condition. After he left I got enough courage to take it out for a longer drive - Ended up driving it about 100 miles in the mountain foothills near here. Had such a good time I didn't want to come back home. This car runs and drives better than my 5 year old Ford. It is surprisingly fast, smooth and quiet and handles like a sports car. You won't find a better running Volvo anywhere for this price.....I was truly well impressed with everything. Amazing driving car for being 50 years old - oh, and the speedometer does indeed work.
