Vehicle Detail

This is an all original Black tag California car. The car is solid and doesn’t have any major rust issues. The only rust it has is surface rust on the trunk deck lid where the sun has burnt off the paint. You can see from the photos that it is the original paint/primer on the car. The car has also never been into any major accidents. It has some door dings and a scrape on the passenger’s side back door but it’s not bad. I purchased the car last August from an older man who said he found it behind a house out in the desert. He owned the car for about a year but never really made time for it. 361 Big block with a two barrel carb. Push button auto, 8 ¾ rear end. Power Steering, power brakes. An oddity in the Mopar world. Clear title pink slip in hand. Here are additional photos http://s1066.photobucket.com/albums/u413/lukeev2/?albumview=slideshow Drive train - When I purchased the car it had a tank a gas that could have been drained and used for wood varnish. I changed all the fluids, rebuilt the carburetor, had the radiator rebuilt, put in a new water pump, radiator hoses, thermostat, alternator, spark plug wires, electronic ignition, and coil. The car fires up and runs smooth and quiet, the motor is very strong and the transmission shifts smoothly. The rear end does not whine or clunk but I would suggest you change the u-joints as I imagine they might be 50 years old. This is an AC car and it has the compressor but it does not work. I have bypassed the heater core also because I wasn’t sure if it worked and I am in Los Angeles so there really isn’t a need for the heater. The AC and Heater push buttons on the dash are all there but some buttons stick, the mechanism could use refurbishing. The push button transmission is in great working order. All gear buttons on the dash work perfectly. The front suspension will need to be redone, the car drives fine but you can hear the bushing creek when you are turning without moving. The power steering pump reservoir is broken where the low pressure hose meets the reservoir. You can drive the car fine as it is but you will need to add fluid to it every other day if driving it. The power steering bracket is missing some parts so the previous owners fix to that was to ram a piece of wood between the bracket and the timing chain cover. Although this fixed the problem it is not a permeate solution. The brakes have been bled and checked, this is a 4 wheel drum power brake car and the pads have about 60% left on them. Due to the suspension problems if you slam on the breaks the car pulls, so as with any land yaught you should plan ahead. Interior – The interior is all original. The headliner is ripped in a few places as you can see from the photos. The front seat is ripped but the back is not. There is plastic type piping used between the vinyl and the other material which is discolored and coming apart in certain areas from being exposed to the sun. The carpet is also original. As I mentioned above the transmission buttons work fine, the AC/Heater buttons have problems. All of the gauges work perfectly. The speedo does not bounce when you are driving. The parking break light does not come on when the parking brake is depressed. The gauge lights work for the speedo and the volts/fuel gauge but not for the temp gauge. The steering wheel is missing the horn ring, it looks as though someone stole it. The steering wheel is also cracked and broken and will need to be refurbished or replaced if you want this to be a show piece. If not it is perfectly fine and safe to use. The radio still works and the buttons/tuning bar still light up when the driving lights are on. The glove box is very nice inside and the door moves freely and fits well. The dash itself looks good except for one scratch on the passenger’s side but I really think it will buff out. The ignition spins in the dash, by that I mean when you start the car the whole ignition moves also, I think its missing the clip that secures it to the backside of the dash. The ignition works fine otherwise. The door panels are original but have started to separate from the cardboard. The passengers side front and rear armrests are ripped. The driver’s side armrests are in good condition. Glass – The front and rear windshield are in great condition, no cracks at all. The front has some rubber marks on it from old windshield wipers but can be polished off. All of the door glass is good. The driver’s side wing window is gone, I believe it was broken by someone trying to steal the car, the window was gone when I purchased it. Body – As I said before this is an original California car and there is only surface rust on the back deck lid and ¼ panel. The paint is original and shows its age. The car has all of the original trim. I have brand new reproduction tail lights. The driver’s side mirror is not on the door but I have it, it is included in the sale. The car will need to have new locks installed for the doors and trunk. When I purchased the car I only received an ignition key. I have never opened the trunk because I don’t have a key, who knows there might be extra parts or a bunch of money but most likely nothing. There are not major dents in the car, just minor door dings and a scrape type dent on the passenger’s side rear door. The bumpers are great but the chrome is 50 years old. Both rear door windows do not roll down. The driver’s side rear door does not open. Undercarriage – As you can see from the photos the car doesn’t have rust issues. The car is being sold “as is” so I would like to provide you as much information as possible so that you know what you are buying. As I mentioned before the car runs and drives fine but if you would like everything to work all the time please note the following list. None of these items affect the cars running condition but need to be addressed. Most of the items listed below are cosmetic. What the car needs or needs to be repaired – Power steering pump reservoir, Power steering pump bracket, AC/Heater controls refurbishment, AC unit checkup, heater core checkup, door locks, trunk lock, ignition key clip, fix drivers side rear door, fix rear door windows, headliner, interior, horn ring, steering wheel, drivers side wing window, front suspension, gauge lights, and install new tail lights. Please feel free to ask as many questions as you would like. The buying is responsible for shipping the car. If you are local you can come see the car before the auction ends. The buyer can also pick up the car at auctions end. Full payment due for car within 72 hours of auctions end. Thanks for looking.http://s1066.photobucket.com/albums/u413/lukeev2/?albumview=slideshow
