Vehicle Detail
Traditional Hot Rod Truck built using original Ford and original Hot Rod parts. My brother and I spent years collecting parts for this truck to create the look we were after. You will not go anywhere without drawing a crowd or getting the thumbs up from people on the road. The History: The cab started life a F-6 fire truck for a small town up in the "thumb" area of Michigan (you can still faintly read the lettering on the door). Later in life a stake bed was added and it did time on a local farm. The cab is very solid with just a couple of small rust holes in the door bottom corners. The roof was chopped 4" and widened 1" front and side. Many people attempt to chop these F-1s, but very few succeed making it look right because they don't quarter the roof and section the rear window. We have been in many shows, (Detroit Autorama, Hunnert Car Pile Up, Billet Proof, Ford Design Staff employee show) and everyone comments that it is one of the best F-1 chops they have ever seen. The Body Parts: 32 Ford Truck Deluxe Grille shell, Guide 682-C Headlamps on Model A stands, shortened F-1 Ford Box, Farmall Fuel tank, an original cooler holds the battery. Early School Bus Tail Light, this part is one of the coolest parts on the truck, it was photographed and showed up in an issue of Hot Rod Deluxe in the rodding at random pages. The Chassis Parts: custom built 3"x 2" rectangular tube frame with a Model A front crossmember and square tube center and rear crossmembers, 32 Ford Axle, 3" Drop, 39 Ford spindles, 39 Ford brakes in front, "45 fin" Buick drums on 40 Ford hubs (done the "old school" way), 39 Ford radius rods, F-1 Steering Box, Golden Glide Shocks on F-1 Mounts, 6.00-16 Firestone Deluxe Champions on 4.5" Ford wheels in the front, 7.50-16 Firestone Deluxe Champions on 4.5" Ford wheels in the rear. Original 1940 Mercury Hub Caps (these are one of the only early Mercury/Ford Hub Caps they do not re-pop). Drivetrain: 56 Ford Truck 292 Y-block engine, New aluminium radiator with electric fan, Mercury Valve Covers, Weiand Drag Star intake manifold with 6 Stromberg 97's, Mallory Dual Point Distributor, 12 volt generator, Lake pipe headers, 56 Ford Truck 3 speed manual trans, 56 Ford Truck rear axle with 11" bendix brakes. Interior: Bomber style (not original) with original 3" aircraft seat belts, Steering wheel is from an old hi-low with a Mercury horn button, Original Sun "football" tach. The truck still has room for a little work here and there, but runs great and always draws a crowd. If you are serious about buying this truck please call me at 313-670-8276 and I will answer any and all questions honestly. I might be able to help with delivery please call to discuss. The reserve is set very reasonable at what I could get for the parts alone. Truck is sold as is, where is, with no guarantees or warranty. On Mar-09-12 at 00:50:32 PST, seller added the following information: Due to the high cost of this item and the cost of the auction to me should the item sell. I am not going to allow bidders with feedback lower than 25 to bid any longer. I just cannot take the chance on someone who is not a proven bidder. I realize that we all started out with 0 feedback, but an expensive auction is not the place to start. Thanks.
