Up for auction is 1947 Dodge 1/2 ton Pickup Truck. Underwent complete restoration in 2008. Purchased truck from gentleman in Kentucky 2 years ago. Been in a climate controlled environment for most of its existence. Speedo reads 83K but title indicates "exceed mechanical limits". Very doubtful this vehicle has 183,000 miles given the excellent shape body is in. Has flat head 6 and three speed transmission. Starts up without hesitation on first crank and maintains idle. Motor rebuilt to allow use of unleaded gasoline. Still original 6V with battery located under driver side floor. still has original generator. 3 speed transmission is synchronized and shifts smoothly. Has all original sheet metal (rare) and no evidence of any collision damage and frame has not been modified. Has rare rear bumper. All gauges work as verified by one of the pics. Interior in excellent shape. Undercarriage has some mild road grime otherwise very clean. Wood bed solid. Truck driven approximately 200 miles a year and very well cared for. Underwent tuneup and carburator rebuilt. New Hankook truck tires. Vacuum operated wiper motor not operating and needs replacing. Roberts Motor Parts in Massuchusetts has them rebuilt for $125. Can find them on ebay for much cheaper. Never had it replaced b/c never driven in the rain. Motor was rebuilt 2008 during same time of restoration. i do not have build sheet to verify what components were replaced or was was exactly done. i do know that valves were modified to allow use of unleaded fuel. engine looks, sounds, and runs like new. oil pressure is good and never overheats even during hot florida summers. Dodge trucks during this era '39-47 are very rare to find particularly in this type condition. Ford and Chevy much more common due to higher production numbers. will not release reserve price, not fair to those playing the game. i may consider selling vehicle to highest bidder even if reserve not met. thx for interest.On Mar-06-12 at 13:39:26 PST, seller added the following information: no tricks or gimmicksOn Mar-07-12 at 15:46:29 PST, seller added the following information: i have discussed the driveability of this vehicle w numerous people who have not owned or driven a vehicle from this era. keep in mind this is a vehicle manufactured in early forties w technology based from that era. there is no power-assist steering, and no power brakes. it has four wheel mechanical drum brakes. you have to be mindful to allow braking distance when applying brakes. transmission is synchronized and shifts extremely well. clutch engages/disengages normally. rear end is original and based on gear ratio these trucks never exceeded 45-50 mph. truck drives and performs like 1947 vehicle. please bid w confidence. thx On Mar-09-12 at 08:58:40 PST, seller added the following information: RESERVE HAS BEEN LOWERED
