Vehicle Detail
This car was my Dad's gift to me when I turned 16 in 1993. He piddled with it over the years, adding chrome, working on the interior and working to turn it into a show car. He almost got it there, but passed away in 2008 after 6 months fighting lung cancer. He wanted it to be a show car and that's what I want to see happen to it. In the following video, you can hear the car running, see it driving down the road and hear all the doors open and close. There are also some pans over the different sides of the car and the interior as well. You can also watch a history of the car and see how it's looked through the years. This car has always been kept in the garage. It's been babied and loved. I'm a female and I've only driven the car on the highway a handful of times. While it handles well, I never really liked to drive it hard. Most of the mileage has been from in town driving and some country road trips. It's solid underneath. The only rust it ever had that I'm aware of.. was in the engine compartment. My Dad cut the rust out and replaced it with metal. He never used Bondo in any car if he could avoid it. All doors and hinges are solid. All it needs are a few small things.. such as a horn medallion, a cover for the wire in the trunk and a rear door panel.. for the paint to be touched up and buffed (or completely repaint. The top is black and virtually spotless. The red part has a few rough spots.) This is a rare, functional clutchless stick. 1st and 2nd gear with Reverse. Just let up off the gas and shift. Anyone can drive it! Even those terrified of a Manual. Slow gear has never worked, the stick pops right out. But I hear that's common and I've never found the need for Slow gear, therefore we've never had it corrected. The car has a few cracks in the dash. I also hear that is common. I had considered just taking off the covering and painting it, but never have. With this car you have an awesome benefit: I can tell you anything you need to know. I've been the only owner for so many years. My Dad kept a detailed notebook of every single thing he ever did to it.. when he changed the oil, if he put a part on it.. and he documented the mileage and date when he did so. You have an entire history of the car all in a notebook. I have the original manual. I'd love to answer any of your questions.. Please call or text anytime: 419.788.1016 Thanks for viewing! I hope that whoever wins will take this car to shows. It really misses them. On Feb-15-12 at 21:05:44 PST, seller added the following information: I had added a Buy It Now of $6500 to this auction. For some reason, it isn't showing up. I will end early if I get a high enough offer. A gentleman has asked if he can order an independent inspection. That is totally fine. The car is located in Findlay, Ohio. It is at my Mother's house. She is retired and available all the time if someone would like to inspect the car.On Feb-20-12 at 20:24:49 PST, seller added the following information: I finally got my brother to get a photo of the underneath of the car. There appears to be a metal panel welded underneath. He went all over the underneath of the car and can find no rust other than very typical surface rust which can be sanded off. He doesn't know why the panel is there. He speculated that it may have been a reinforcement to prevent rust. My Dad had a strict regimen of rust proofing the bottom of the car almost every year before it got cold. He would coat things with roofing cement in particular, a trick he learned back when he first started working on cars back in the 50s. Also show are the neon blue ground effects, neon tubing under the car. I forgot to mention and this is included. Since I cannot seem to upload the image to the image viewer, here it is:
