Up for a no reserve auction is my 1978 BMW 320i. I am the third owner of the vehicle. It was originally purchased in December of 1977 by Mark Stevens at Campbell (now Riverside) BMW as a new vehicle. It was then purchased by the Beemer Clinic in Riverside, California. Pete, the owner, disassembled the engine, and did a valve job, replaced the head, converted it to a five speed and replaced the fan with a larger one from a later model three series. The car was then purchased by me, Chuck Stevens, approximately ten years ago. The car is original except for the aforementioned transmission and fan conversions and a Sony radio/CD player. It does have the Behr A/C unit as a dealer or dock installed option which still runs although it needs a recharge. There is a small dent in the driver's side door. I have maintained the car since, although I rarely drive it. The Beemer clinic factory trained tech is the only person to have worked on the car for the past twelve years. I have spent approximately $1500 just recently to keep the car in good running condition. It has always passed smog and is currently registered and titled in California. I still live in Riverside, so the car has been in a corrosion free climate its entire life. It would be a good daily driver or a restoration project. The interior seats are the original fabric and the front seats need to be redone. There are no rips, tears abrasions on the original carpet. The headliner is intact although on the drivers A pillar, it is starting to wrinkle and needs to be reattached. The dash has some cracking although it is still in really good shape. Hood and trunk emblems have been replaced but I still have the original metal emblems. Windshield has been replaced. New muffler. The instrument cluster is fully functional. lights, odometer, speedo all in working condition. Hazard light needs replaced. Glove box lock is currently stuck. The headlamps and taillight lenses have been replaced with new OEM parts. Headlamps, turn signals and brake lights all work fine. Rubber gaskets are intact. The OEM turbine wheels are in mint condition, no curb rash, pitting. I have installed new OEM BBS 13" wheels currently, but both sets of wheels will come with the car. If you can find these wheel sets new, you know how much they cost. The engine runs really well. It does not smoke, overheat, there is no valve noise and it revs forever. This is a non-catalytic converter car so the last time I checked you could still buy headers for this vehicle through BMP Design in Texas, as well as Supersprint exhaust equipment. The car drives and handles and brakes really well. I rarely drive the car so it needs a good home. The paint (repaint) is intact but badly faded and it needs to be redone. The body is rust free, the shock mounts are perfect and there is no rust anywhere on the undercarriage or floor panels. Trunk is very clean. Overall the car is clean but it does not show well because of the paint and interior seating issues I have mentioned. So the car has some cosmetic issues but is a good driver and has no rust. I don't have a reserve on the car and have no idea as to shipping charges but you are welcome to pick up the vehicle here in Riverside.
