Now about this 100% RUST FREE 1979 Chevy 1/2 ton short bed 4x4, thats a original CALIFORNIA TRUCK with its original blue and yellow plates. By the way before you bid check out our previous feedback, it speaks for itself. We provided this truck to a movie studio for it to be used as one of the lead vehicles in a major Hollywood production, filming ended last week and we are now offering it for sale with a NO RESERVE auction.... the movie is loosely based on a bounty hunter in the late 70's we can not disclose the name of the movie at this time, but look for it in theatres next summer! This truck comes factory equipped with the scottsdale package which includes, factory tilt column, full gauge cluster, dual gas tanks, body side moldings, chrome front and rear bumpers, and A/C. The truck has a good running 350 V8 motor in it with lots of oil pressure, theres a s set of aftermarket CA smog legal headers on it and a dual exhaust system, the truck runs and sounds good. The motor seems to be original but we have not verified it. There is a slight exhaust leak from one of the headers, this can be dealt with by its new owner. We installed a new high flow radiator in it as well as a new heater core for the movie shoot since the truck was being filmed mostly while sitting at idle, all fluids are clean and topped off. The transmission is the original turbo 350 3-speed automatic, it is in excellent working condition and shifts nice and firm through all the gears. The transfer case is the original NP 203 full time, it is in excellent working condition and it goes in and out of 4 wheel drive easily. The rear axle is the original GM corp. 12 bolt, it is in excellent working order. The front axle is the original DANA 44 with disc brakes, it is also in great working order. The front axle has a set of aftermarket lockout hubs on it with the operational instructions sticker in the glove box, along with the factory 4 wheel drive operation sticer. The truck has a mild suspension lift on it with the factory dual shock option, this lift clears enough room for the 33 inch all terrain tires mounted on aluminum American Racing " Gambler style " wheels, the combo fits the truck well and gives it a nice 80's feel. The tires have 40% or so tread on them. Overall the truck runs and drives great and goes down the road smooth, and all 4 wheel drive equipment is in great working order. The exterior of the truck is in overall fair shape, it has been repainted once the same color as it came with from the factory, its a basic paint job, all the original moldings and trim pieces as well as the original Scottsdale fender emblems have been put back on. The front fenders have been trimmed a little to make sure the tires do not make contact with the fenders at full turn and the cuts have been recovered with the original wheel well moldings. There are a few imperfections in the paint, such as cracking, chips, scuffs, scratches etc... but overall it looks ok. Again this truck is totally RUST FREE. The underneath of the truck is very dry and totally rust free as well. The inside of the bed has been rolled with some type of bedliner, it is mostly in good shape except for one area on the side where it is starting to peel. As you can see there is a custom made square tube roll bar in the bed, the movie director wanted it that way. The brush guard in front of the truck houses a electric winch, which we never tested but are fairly certain should work, the original remote for the winch is behind the seat and will come with the truck. The interior of the truck was " customized " some time in the 80's, there is a custom made overhead console that houses a CB radio, a stereo equalizer, a wiper relay controller, a stash box, and a ton of switches some of which operate the front fog / driving lights ( which work ) ,there are a pair of jacks on either side of the overhead console which a chrome hand held spot light plugs into and believe it or not the spot light works...There are two buttons which operate a air horn and a siren the siren works but the air horn system has a leak, there is also a gun rack in the back of the cab, ( we get crazy looks our here in CA with that rack in the truck ), not sure what some of the other switches do, but you will have lots of fun trying to figure what all that stuff is supposed to do. The carpet is original and in good shape, there is a spot on the passenger side where a repair was made at some point. The original bench seat has been reupholstered and refoamed and its in great shape. All the lights work properly. All the gauges work other than the voltmeter. The dash pad has several cracks in ith, but it has a nice black dash pad cover on it. The headliner is original and is sagging a little. The rest of the interior pieces are in good shape. The truck has no stereo in it. All A/C equipment is in tact but the A/C pump does not have a belt on it, go ahead and figure on a new A/C compressor. Overall its a great old classic 1/2 ton short bed 4 wheel drive that can be enjoyed just the way it is, or you can further modify or restore it as you drive it. I hold a clear CA title in hand and the truck is currently registered here in CA. That should just about cover everything, if you notice something which I have missed please don't hesitate to call or write at any time. Overall its a cool old classic short bed 4x4 that gets lots of compliments and looks, as nice as this truck is it is NOT perfect, so please don't expect perfection.
