Vehicle Detail

This is a 1965 Datsun Fairlady Roadster. This is the 3 seater roadster. I converted it to a 2000 using a 69 2000 motor with A cam and SU carbs. It also has a 5 speed transmission and a 3.7 rear end. The inner fender on the driver side has been changed out with a 69 inner fender. This was done because the 67.5-70 inner fenders have a indention for the air cleaner. In order to handle the 2L power better I installed the later model disc brakes on the front. I also installed a late model recirculating ball steering box and Borgeson telescopic steering column. I used a 67.5 window frame so that I can use a later hardtop and softtop on the car (no soft top frame with this car). The U20 radiator was also fitted to the car and later model overflow tank installed. A GM one wire alternator is also used. The car runs and drives. It starts very easily and will run all day long. (I ran/drove this motor in another car for almost 2 years) It steers very well with no pulling left or right. It brakes in the same manner. I have been through the wiring harness and have it back to original condition and everything working. The temp gauge is bad on the car and I will include a aftermarket temp gauge and oil gauge that you can install. The car has one key for everything. It fits the ignition, doors, glove box, and trunk. It has new tires on stock 14" wheels with hub caps. These are not original to the car. I have the original 13" wheels, but can't use them with the disc brakes. (hub caps have been sold). I started building this car a year ago to be my daily driver and then acquired another roadster that I prefer to spend my time and money on. This one has been sitting on the sideline ever since. I pulled it back out the other day and drove it around and cleaned it up for sale. I have only driven this car around in my small town to check it out as I worked on it. It was getting close to tagging it, but still needs some work to get it there. Here is a list of things that I know you will need to do.1. Front fenders will need to be bolted on permanently. I have just enough bolts on it to drive it around town. (driver side Fairlady emblem is in the glove box)2. I replaced the passenger side rocker, the drivers side is rocker under the front fender is rusted away. I have another complete rocker to go with the car.3. There is the usual rusted section in the front floor board/rocker area. These will need patched or replaced.4. Choke cable needs replaced.5. Air cleaner added to motor.6. Connect the speedometer cable.7. Finish repairing the rear quarter at the rocker section on the passenger side. 8. I have not worked on the wipers yet. The motor works, but you will need to finish this part.9. The muffler will need replaced as I can hear a leak in it.10. I have a front bumper for the car. It isn't the best, so I left it off. I also think it looks better with it off. I am sure there are other items I am forgetting, but the above is the items that I have on my "to-do list". This is a project car and will still need some work to complete. I have done most of the hard stuff. It has the usual rusted areas that the previous attempted to patch. I was slowly working my way down the car replacing the rusted areas. The intent was to have the look of the old 1500, but the power and cruising ability of the 2000. The car has a clear Arkansas title and is in my name. The car is sold as-is. Buyer to pay $300 deposit via Paypal with the balance paid within 72 hours. I will not ship, but will help load the car. Please email with any questions. On Feb-03-12 at 12:16:00 PST, seller added the following information: While I call the car a 65, it is technically a 64. It was sold and titled in 65.
