Vehicle Detail
1958 Villager Wagon, was a 9 passenger, now is a 6 passenger. Middle row seats for a 9 passenger are very uncomfortable and 3rd row seats are always missing, enjoy the room in the rear of a 6 passenger! Engine, Trans, Steering column, steering gearbox, radiator and gas pedal linkage set up is all out of a wrecked 58 Ford Wagon. Lever shift out of the 58 Ford wagon means you do not have to worry about the Tele-Touch failing you and worse, deal with the timely and costly repairs of Tele-Touch driving. Manual steering and manual brakes, not troublesome Treadlevac brakes or leaky power steering parts. However, if you want to ad these troublesome options, let me know, I have those sorts of parts and we can deal on them separately if you win the auction. Engine runs very good, I found re builders tags on the engine block and it all looks real good so I would say it was rebuilt not long before the 58 Ford was totaled (the donor car for this one). The engine is a 332 2bbl FE from 1958, more fuel economical than a 361 4bbl. I had planned on only pressure washing it and sticking it in this car, after pressure washing we found that thin layer of under hood film washed right off, so we decided to paint it Edsel yellow, that looked so good we did the brackets in black and the manifolds in high temp silver. Could use new plug wires but it is working as is. Rebuilt Carburetor (auto-lite 2 bbl) New Freeze plugs New radiator hoses New heater hoses (Blocked off as I do not know the status of the heater core) New Thermostat New Belt Trans seems to work very good but I have only been able to drive it around the 10 acre ranch. I have owned this car for 10 years, always non oped, that is why I couldn't drive it on the roads. Just got it driving. Speedometer works smooth, at least driving it around the ranch, up to 30+ mph. New Wheel Cylinders New Brake Hoses New Brake Shoes We used a master cylinder off a parts car that had just had the brakes done just before it was wrecked and it seems to work fine. Windshield just installed, has a small chip but was pretty good overall, new gasket. All glass good except drivers side rear door is cracked. Good used tires, hub caps not so great, 2 have the spinner holes, hub caps are very common Edsel parts to find. **Please note some photos were taken before I put the good used tires on it. non of the tires on the car have whitewalls at all. Gas tank is cleaned, sending unit seems to work as does the gauge. Tank has a dent in it, but still functions fine, just a lower capacity now, maybe 2 gallons less. New Gas cap All lights work, except license plate lights are both smashed so you need new ones, very common part at a auto parts house, I just fail to think of it when I am at the auto parts stores. Some bulbs need replacing though. All grills are not so hot, but very common Edsel parts. Generator and Voltage Regulator work, regulator was new on a wrecked car. New Fuel pump, its a good one, Keeps the new clear in line fuel filter full to the top! New Air filter New reproduction tail light lenses Exhaust is good, muffler has bend in it but was all removed from a wrecked car and installed in one piece, heat flapper is good. manifolds have been repaired but work quietly and worked on the parts cars they came off of quietly. Needs muffler hangers. BODY Needs paint, floors were replaced in the front. one spot of rust on rear floor under the rear seat. Rockers are good except rear passenger side at wheel well opening lower front corner (see photos). Rear quarter on drivers side has some rust and so does the top middle on drivers side wheel well opening (see photos). Passenger fender @ bottom has rust and was bent up, and there is a very repairable dent on the drivers side fender, Villager script is missing on the same fender. Drivers side rear door has dent. All doors open and close very nicely. I do not find much Bondo, but the tailgate has been bumped before and looks to have some in it. INTERIOR Original Padded dash is in very good shape, better shape than my Pacer Convertible and I am not replacing that one so you know this one must be good! Dash chrome is nice, radio is missing nobs. Dash lights work. Seats need re-upholstered, needs headliner. Has decent carpet but it is blue and out of a parts car, just nicer than metal floors. Custom Edsel horn button It isn't a 100 point show car, but it is mechanically sound and a fun cruiser. Has lots of Patina that every one seems to love these days. Over all a nice started Edsel that I would be willing to drive anywhere. Can deliver in the lower 48, email me your location and I will give you a price. For instance, Oklahoma City OK $550!
