Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is this awesome example of yesterday's jeep. It was redone here locally and was available for sale a little over a year ago, but some dude beat me to it. The timing was not great for me anyway. Well, as fate would have it, his plans for it had not materialized and for various reasons, was forced to move it. Our paths crossed and it fell in my lap! Timing sucks for me again with new baby here but I could not pass it up. My wife is awesome and I can get by with most anything, but as a courtesy to her, I agreed to make an attempt to sell it before I commence to carry out my plans for it. I only tell this story because I personally think it is fun to have a little history when I am buying something.Ok, now about the jeep. The VIN tag is on it with the Kaiser tag. I assume that the running gear and motor are original to the jeep. It has the F-head 134 Hurricane four cylinder engine that runs like a top, T90 three speed trans, Dana 18 transfer case, Dana 25 or Dana 27 front (not sure which), and offset Dana 44 rear. I don't know what the builder's vision was exactly, but I found a card in the glove box that had some mechanical info on it that indicated that he had planned to put a 4.3 vortec in it. I only mention this because, although the 4 banger runs great, it only makes 60-70 hp, and that is not enough to push this jeep around practically. At least not with these tires and its current set up. I am not sure how it is geared, but if somebody wanted to keep the Hurricane in it and run these tires, it would need to be geared lower. I have only had it a few weeks and have only driven it back and fourth from house to barn a few times. Scoots around just fine with transfer in low range. As far as the frame and body, it has been frame off restored. The fab work on the body has been meticulously done. Floor pans, engine bay, firewall, frame and underbody have been seal coated. Tubular steel flat (crawler style) front fenders, rewired stainless steel dash with Sunpro gauges and stainless glove box. Full roll cage, Dynamat lining in rear tub and steel tailgate. Hood and tailgate hinges are coated to match frame and floor. Rough Country suspension and about a one inch body lift. 33X14X15 TSL Swamper Boggers with nearly100% tread, and lock out front hubs. The new fuel tank is in the standard location. The guy building this jeep did not like the look of the fuel filler in the side of the jeep body, so he eliminated it for a cleaner custom look (nicely done). Custom made nerf/rock bars were built for this jeep and never painted and installed. They are included. Jeep has a Bestop bikini top. Does not come with any other top or doors. Does not come with windshield wipers or wiper motor. Anyone who knows jeeps already knows this but it should be noted that if you are a great big guy, you won't fit well in this jeep! I am 6'1" and about 215lbs. and it is kinda tight for me (at least with a standard trans). I hope someone buys this and gives it the treatment it deserves. By that I mean just what I will do if I keep it. A disc brake conversion and most of all, power steering would be a must. I was told that the engine had been gone through, and judging by the way it runs and the gasket sealer (same is seen on differentials), I would say that it has. Willys jeep buffs will pay good $$ for these engines (especially running), if you are one who would want an engine swap. I am because this thing is worthy of some horse power. I have tried to be thorough, both with description and pics, but I can't think of everything so ask questions. $500 deposit via paypal within 24 hours. Good luck!
