Vehicle Detail

Vehicle Description: 1961 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible: NOTE: I HAD TO RELIST DO TO A TYPO THAT EBAY DID NOT ALLOW. SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. I am selling this Fantastic Storage Barn Find Classic for No Reserve!!! **NOTE** ALL BIDDERS MUST HAVE POSITVE FEEDBACK AND BE FROM USA OR YOU NEED TO CONTACT ME FIRST BEFORE BIDDING. THANK YOU. I WANT ONLY SERIOUS BIDDERS INVOLVED WHO WANT TO OWN THE CAR as HIGH BIDDER TAKES IT! Please note: I am not an expert by any means on these cars but will do my best to describe it and I will be happy to answer any questions. Just email them. I also encourage the prospective buyers to view the car first if possible? Or have someone look at it for you. OK now for the car description... This car has not been registered since 1974!! Car is a time capsule that was locked in a brick storage barn in 1974 after a minor front-end accident by its very eccentric late owner who was estranged from his family for over 30 years. Its now time for someone to bring it back to life. This car is a TOTAL Project car but non the less a 1961 Corvette that was perhaps an original fuel injected car?? Tach redlines @ 6500-7000rpm (SEE PHOTO). I know there are other signs to look for in determining if the car was fuel injected but I am not too sure where to look?? There is a riveted bracket on lower inside of drives fender? Not sure if that was for washer bottle?? Suggestions encouraged, just email them to me. Currently the car is being sold on a BILL of SALE. The title was lost but we are checking into getting a replacement through lost titles from his estate. We cannot guarantee it so for now; it is sold via BILL of SALE Only, so there is no confusion. Owner was a hoarder in every sense of the word and his home is a disaster. It is still being sifted through in hopes to find his documentation on the car. This car has been stored in the same spot since 1974 yrs in owners brick garage behind his home. INTERIOR : The interior seats were home to many critters over the years and they have unfortunately eaten most of the seats and carpet. Dashboard around gages etc. is not bad. (See photos) Looks like owner added wood grain contact paper on dash items for the true 70s look. Steering wheel appears to be after market. EXTERIOR : As you can see from the photos, the front was lightly hit which cracked up the fiberglass on front and driver-side mostly. Pass. front fender pulled apart from bonding seems BUT IS INTACT. All Needs fixed or a new front clip possibly? FOR PURPOSES OF TAKING PHOTOS OF WHAT IS THERE, I TAPED THE FRONT PANELS ON. THEY ARE NOT ATTACHED AND WILL BE REMOVED AND STORED IN CAR FOR SHIPPING TO NEW OWNER. Most pieces are present but what you see in the photos is what you get. Hood has no damage. The engine is believed to be not the original as it only has one stamp on it reading...(FII25GA) not sure what that means? While in storage, someone broke in and cut out with a saw & stole the manual transmission. So car does not have Trans./drive shaft was cut through to get trans. UNDERNEATH: Car has rusty frame and should be replaced. I believe there are spots of the frame that need attention. I was not able to get fully underneath but can see some bad spots and I have tried to include those photos in the auction. To SUM up, this car is in need of a total restoration and I have tried to describe all major items that need attention. Personal inspections are encouraged, as I am not an expert on this car or restoring cars but try my best to give all details and photo them. INTERSTING STORY NOTE ON CAR: Upon uncovering the car, I called a flat bed towing service to come and get the car. When the driver arrived he told me something that I thought to be pretty amazing... He mentioned that in 1974 he tried to buy this very car. I said what do you mean? He said I was the one who towed it to this very garage when it was in the accident in 1974. He said, he tried to buy it on the spot right then from the owner and he said the guy would in no way part with the car. He said the owner was very eccentric and private and stuffed it in the garage. He too was amazed that it had not even moved in all those years and remained unchanged. Any way, I just thought that to be a very interesting footnote on the car. This car is sold as is with no warranty expressed, written or implied. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected the vehicle (via personally, third party or through the pictures provided and questions asked), and to have satisfied him or herself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgment solely. The seller has made every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects associated with this vehicle. Check my feedback... I am not a dealer although I have sold a few cars in the past and everyone is always very satisfied as I do my best to accurately describe the car. Thanks again and GOOD LUCK On Jan-14-12 at 22:52:20 PST, seller added the following information: NOTE: THE CAR IS MARKETED AS A 1961 BUT I AM BEING TOLD THAT IT IS ACTUALLY A 1962. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE EMAILS AND INFORMATION ON THIS. On Jan-15-12 at 04:45:37 PST, seller added the following information: Note: This email came from someone and I wanted to post it for others to see... I think you have the original motor in your corvette suffx# FII25GA for Chevrolet 283 motor 315 HP 1961- 1962 not 100% but that is what I have seen. Good luck in your auction - northernljOn Jan-21-12 at 19:56:01 PST, seller added the following information: NOTE: JUST TO BE 100% CLEAR... THE CAR IS BEING SOLD ON a "BILL OF SALE". There is a chance a title can be obtained but I do not want to lead anyone into thinking that it is a forsure thing. I will be happy to provide the winning bidder with the contact info. of who will help try to get a replacement title from the estate but it will take a bit of effort on the buyers part and there is no gaurantee. Please take this into consideration and bid accordingly to what you feel. Thanks
