1949 Desoto “Custom” 2 door Convertible VIN 50034974 Engine Straight 6 Flathead 236 112HP Fluid Drive Transmission Mileage showing on odometer is 16710 PARTS CAR Sold with NO TITLE Again, there is no title and are selling this as a parts car. Vin tag is present on the doorpost and the body firewall tag reads 734-2320 The car does not run or drive. The engine appears complete but not operational, engine will not turn...is seized. The transmission shifts through gears while stationary. NO BRAKES. No electrical. The mechanical hardware for the top and the top bows look complete and original, in good shape. Trim and badges are all present. The Driver side mirror is missing. The fenders and side panels have dents, surface rust throughout and the paint on the trunk lid is peeling. The passenger side door has rust bubbles along the bottom but is not showing rust-through. THe driver side door is in very nice condition (door bottoms pictured). A period correct radio is in the dash but the radio knobs are missing. Dash guages are present, but have surface rust. The badges in the interior door panels are in nice condition. The interior seats are in very good condition and complete front and rear. The steering wheel is complete, but is cracked. All four original hubcaps are present. The front grille is in very nice condtion. Transmission is a "Fluid Drive". Fluid Drive is a 4 speed automatic, not a manual transmission. There is no 1st gear position. There is a clutch pedal but it is only used to move the selector lever, (put it in gear from neutral, shift into reverse, change to Lo, etc.). Normal driving and stopping is clutch free, just like a modern automatic, the only difference being that you have to lift your foot off the gas for it to upshift. The windows roll up and down with ease but missing the trim on the driver’s side door for door handle. The driver side windshield is cracked all the rest of the glass is in good condition with no delamination. The car overall is really solid, unrestored. Rust showing on rear bumper where it meets sheet metal, bubbled along passenger side door bottom and along trim on that side. This car will must be towed to buyers location, it does not run- and there are NO BRAKES. This car was part of an extensive private collection and in the same ownership for many years. The car was donated to our museum in this condition. This vehicle is sold as is, where is; there are no guarantees and no returns. Once you have won the auction, you have agreed to purchase the vehicle. If you try to contact me the last 24 hours of the auction, I cannot guarantee an appointment to view the vehicle. Pickup and Shipping: Buyer is responsible to arrange for vehicle pickup, pay for transportation or shipping to buyer’s location and to communicate the condition of the vehicle to the transporter. We do not deliver. We cannot store the vehicle beyond two weeks of close of sale. Sellers Payment Instructions A deposit of $500 is required within 48 hours of end of auction. Payment in full must be completed before the vehicle can be picked up or shipped. If balance due is not received with 7 days of close of auction and no other arrangements have been made, then the vehicle will be re-listed and the deposit forfeited. The deposit will not be returned. I will not create a bill of sale for price less than final bid.
