I Have had this for a little over a year now. I knocked on the guys door for over 20 years before I got it. If you are interested I can tell you the whole story when you call. 916-521-8943. I have determined a few things about it that make it a really rare car. Like the tachometer that goes up to 8000 RPM, And acording to most sites and internet data, the VIN says it's an early 58 Corvette, like in MAY 1958. And another rare thing is the positraction rear end with the tag still on the fill plug. The date on the rear end is E-7-8. Another rare thing is the 4 speed T-10 tranny, Date code is 2-25-58. The Engine was changed but I have gathered up a 1958 corvette engine to go with the car. Date codes on the extra engine are as follows; date code is A218, casting # is 3737739. The extra head numbers are as follows; casting #3748770, Date codes are B-8-8 &B-17-8 . I dont have the fuel injection. I am not positive what color the car was so I took some good pictures where the paint has rubbed through and you can make you own judgment.The last picture shows what looks like a car cover rubbed through. And it goes ; Fiberglass,gray,black,orange,black,then final color turquois. I think it may have been black paint with red interier. I have put in a new radiator core using the original tanks. I also put in a new gas tank and sending unit. Runs Good. Has 283 V-8 with original four speed and original posi rear end. I also converted the brakes and kept all the original parts and did not cut or drill anything. So it can easily be put back to original. The white wall tires are Sears Allstate and are over twenty years old. So they need to be changed. It starts right up and is so much fun to drive. It really gets a lot of conversations every time I stop any where. The car is still in Northern California. The transmision pops out of 2nd and 3rd durring deceleration.I didnt notice until last night when I let my girlfriend drive it. I asked a certified transmission builder what that means. He said its a simple rebuild and about $1,000 in parts. Also the original tail housing on the tranny was changed because the rear bushing had spun. The shop that had the car broke the ear off that holds a pin. I was told all that could be fixed. But I didnt trust that shop after they did that and I just told them to put it back together with another housing so I could get my car back. I still have the original housing and it will go with the car. It still runs and drives but has that issue with 2nd & 3rd on a deceleration. Just wanted everyone to know.
