Vehicle Detail
Up for consideration is a 1966 Chevrolet C60 truck. As you can see by the pictures this is a former farm truck. I acquired it 4 1/2 years ago from a landscape company in southern Ohio that used it as their mulch truck. Since I have owned it, it has been my main chip truck for my small tree care business that I do on the weekends. I have hauled mostly wood and woodchips with the truck, but have also used it for hauling mulch, firewood and have even hauled scrap metal with it. The truck runs good and fires up everytime, hot or cold, rain or snow. It is powered by I believe a 292 straight 6 and is coupled to a 4 speed transmission with a 2 speed rearend. To answer your question, yes the truck does dump. There is no way that I would shovel all those wood chips or mulch out by hand. The dump is powered by a PTO driven pump. There has not been a load on the truck that it could not dump. All the lights and turn signals work, horn too. All the glass is good, doors open and shut without a problem, windows roll up and down. The truck also has a hitch so that you can pull a trailer behind it. The truck will pull my chipper that weighs over 4000lbs without a problem and even with a full load of woodchips, it is still up to the task. Obviously you aren't going to win any races with it. I use the truck every weekend so it hasn't been sitting around (that is about the worst thing you can do to an old truck). I just used it on 12/10/11 for what will be its last tree job with me, and then drove it today to wash it and make it pretty for the pictures. For those of you that are thinking about getting it and driving it home, the truck will do 50-55 on the freeway. Things that need to be addressed: 1. Needs a new alternator. 2. 2 speed rearend stopped working a couple of months ago. I believe the culprit is a leak in the vacuum line. The truck is stuck in high range so it is usable. This problem can be fixed by finding the vacuum leak and fixing it, or switching to an electric motor to shift the 2 speed rear end. 3. The brakes need gone over. They DO WORK, but sometimes you have to give it a pump to get a full pedal. 4. The PTO leaks hydraulic oil. It works fine but ever since I cleaned the outside of it a year ago it has a slow drip so you have to top it off every couple of months or so. Overall condition of the truck is fair. I would say that the cab is about 90-95% solid. It does have some rust as you can see in the pictures. There is a hole in the floor on the driver's side but if you chew tobacco that might not be a bad thing if your aim is good. The frame is clean, the dump bed and body is solid. It has been a real good truck but I have bought a replacement so it has to go. I am starting the bidding off at approximate scrap value of the truck. If it does not sell, then off to the scrap yard it goes. I hate to do that but money talks. If you are going to haul the truck, it weighs about 9000-9500 lbs empty. I have described the truck the best I can. If you have questions, please email or call me 440-321-0005, ask for Mike. I encourage you to look at and test drive the truck before you buy it if you can. Truck is sold AS IS. This item will be PICK UP ONLY. You have 7 days to pay for the truck in full via paypal or preferably cash. The truck does not leave the property until it is paid for. I can store the truck for as long as you need me to if you need some time to get your logistics together. Truck is for sale locally so I have the right to end the auction early, if you are bidding on it through ebay, no I will not end the auction early. There is no reserve so bid to win. Any other questions, please contact me. Thanks and happy bidding.
