Well I'm sure no expert on jeeps, but an elderly friend of mine, bought this CJ-5 brand new in 1971 and has had it ever since. this is what I would call a "Barn Find". It has been sitting idle, and in storage for the last 2 or 3 years. He knew a good mechanic, and hired him, to rebuild his jeep. The good new is, that it has, a completely new rebuilt engine installed. (it got a new .040 pistons, new fresh cut crank, new valves etc.) He spent over 1,700 on the engine alone. (it's still sitting in the assembly grease). It also has a new clutch assembly installed. The mechanic closed his doors and never finished the job... so this is how I received it, and how I am selling it. It is a project that needs finishing. We believe all the parts are sitting in the back end. This includes an excellent manual transmission, with the factory original overdrive. (this is the orig. from this jeep). It's' sure not perfect, and wont win any beauty contests, and the top is probably the worst part. (the fabric is shot). It has a couple of rust spots, but over-all, this is not a rusty jeep. The floors are excellent.(this has always been a Colorado jeep). I do know that the radiator is missing. This is a very solid, one owner, never been wrecked jeep. My opening bid is 1250.00 with no reserve. I have a clear and open Colorado title for it. This jeep is over 40 years old, and being sold as-is. I would much rather you plan for the worst and hope for the best than be disappointed in any way. Now...All that having been said, I can't imagine finding a nicer, more original, or more UN-molested CJ-5 for the price. If you are mechanical...This may be a neat jeep for you. If I did not think this is a good vehicle...I would not be selling it. I only want the buyer to be as excited as I was when it came my way. Term of sale I can not ship..... This means I can not crate, box, disassemble, or deliver to a shipping company. I will however be more than happy to assist your shipper, however I can. A $250.00 non-refundable deposit through Pay Pal is required within 48 hours of auction's end. PayPal is acceptable for the deposit only. The balance is due via bank/certified check, or cash in person within 7 days of the auctions end.
