1996 Geo Metro with 5-speed manual transmission Mileage is high but it has always had synthetic oil, so it burns nearly zero oil. The rear main seal is weeping very, very slowly; I'm adding a quart every 2000 miles. (I am only mentioning it because I should) It is still my daily commuter. We have a new car so I am selling it. It runs fine but tranny is notchy in second gear which I suspect a full synthetic fluid change would remedy. It has lots of dents and dings but almost no rust (that is because I am OCD and have ground off any appearing rust and fiberglassed, so, honestly, there is hardly any rust. No air conditioning. The CD player is great (I mounted 6x9s in the rear panels). Steers like new (I keep up on maintenance and have full records [just replaced inner tire-rods]). Tires are like new; quality with less than 5k on them. Tripmeter does not work but the odometer does. Non-smoker. Passed Virginia inspection in July with flying colors and a new muffler. It does not shake or shimmy. No major tears in the interior. All the gauges work, as does the heater, tach, speedometer. Check engine light is on (it's the downstream O2 sensor), change it if you want but it costs 1 mpg being bad. Speaking of; still gets 44 mpg to this day....AMAZING! Headliner fabric is gone. The engine has never overheated, never been apart, no part inside has ever failed. What else?......nothing I can think off of the top of my head. But ask and I'll will respond truthfully. Anyway, if you are looking for a cheap, reliable commuter car (that isn't too pretty), here it is.
