Vehicle Detail
For sale is a very clean 1969 Dodge Charger “General Lee”. The miles recorded on this car are (6,443) the New Mexico Department of Motor Vehicles (NMDMV) recorded this mileage on the title as actual miles. This is also a very special car being that it was restored using parts from one of the original General Lee cars by the previous owner. I was told he bought one of the original cars from Warner Brothers but it was not restorable, so he took the front bumper with the push bar, the roll bar, CB radio, Dixie Horn, and the American Racing Vector Wheels off that car and put them in this car. I was not given the paperwork he had from Warner Brothers to prove the parts came from an original car as the owner wanted to keep them, but he told me when the car was appraised by JJ Best Banc & co he showed the appraisers a copy of the documents from Warner Brothers. I just refreshed the interior with new carpet, Dash pad (not dash cap), door sill plates, and reupholstered the front and rear seats, the door panels are in excellent shape as is the head liner, the door locks work, and windows roll up and down freely, all the windows are in perfect shape with no cracks. I ran the fender tag code which is listed below and found out this car was a manual transmission car which is very rare, the pedal assembly is complete and still intact, the transmission hump was replaced with an automatic transmission hump by the previous owner and looks excellent. I did take pictures of the floor boards, transmission hump, and the pedal assembly while the carpet was out showing there is no rust on the floor boards (front and rear) and they show the excellent original condition everything is in, but I ran out of room to post pictures on this add so I can Email them and all other pictures I took of the car. As I mentioned above, the roll bar and CB radio that are in the car are the actual Cobra 78x CB Radio and roll bar that were used in one of the original General Lee cars from the series. The CB radio has not been hooked up nor has the roll bar ever been bolted down in this car (I have it sitting in the car for pictures). The roll bar they actually used in these cars were for show and not for protection and were made out of exhaust tubing, this roll bar has the serial number stamped on all sides of the tubing proving its authenticity. Everything on the car works as it should except for a few small things, the heater works, windshield wipers work, and the windshield washer fluid motor also still works, the clock in the dash is no longer working anymore, and the headlight actuators were just rebuilt and installed but I do not have them working yet. The trunk is in great shape I just had a new trunk seal, and trunk mat installed, and the trunk pan was replaced by the previous owner as well but is not OEM, the driver side quarter panel was also replaced with another quarter panel off a 1969 dodge charger so it is original steal and not the thin remanufactured panels you can buy from different companies. Underneath the car looks great and still has all factory undercoating. I did take pictures underneath the car as well, If you would like me to Email them feel free to ask. This car was restored about 7 years ago and has always been kept inside my garage and in the previous owner’s garage, the paint is the correct General Lee Orange and has a few small chips here and there, but nothing major at all, the car just looks great, the Confederate flag, 01 numbers, and the General Lee letters are NOT DECALS these all were painted on professionally along with the car and was topped off with a great looking clear coat that just gives it an awesome looking mirror finish. The wheels again are off an original General Lee car and are the correct bolt pattern for this car (NOT UNILUG) all four wheels are 15x7’s and have brand new American racing vector wheel center caps, the tires have hardly any miles on them as this car is maybe driven once every two months. The lights on the car all work, including the new hood blinker lights from year one. The Dixie horn is also from the original car and sounds great and in tune. The motor in this car is a big block 440 magnum that was rebuilt about 7 years ago to stock specs; it runs real good and does not smoke and I just had a 4 barrel Edelbrock carburetor installed on it. The motor has headers with dual exhaust, but the header on the driver’s side has a small exhaust leak and needs a new header gasket and exhaust needs some exhaust hangers installed, The transmission in the car is a 727 torque flight 3 speed automatic that was rebuilt the same time as the motor and shifts real nice, the car has a 8 ¾ rear end with drum brakes in the rear and disc brakes in the front, it drives very smooth in town and on the highway. When you drive this car you get nothing but smiles, and waves it’s a very fun car to drive. This car may need some small things here and there but this is a very clean, straight, solid car with a real piece of history, and has won numerous 1st place awards for best in show. When I purchased this car I had it inspected and appraised through JJ BEST BANC & CO who specialize in classic cars, and they appraised this car at $33,466.00 before I refurbished the interior, I am not asking for appraisal price for this car so don’t miss out on your chance at owning this classic car for a good price. JJ BEST BANC will finance this car and have it completely inspected and appraised for the buyer, they can be reached at 1-800- 872-1965 or you can check them out at www.jjbest.com. These cars are getting very hard to find especially with this one having parts from a General Lee movie car as well as the low miles and it being a documented manual transmission car. I did buy a new direct bolt on 3 inch Flowmaster dual exhaust kit that runs from the headers back with Flowmaster 40 series mufflers, everything is still in the box along with a brand new set of ceramic coated Headman Headers that are also still in the box. I also have a complete good running 440 Magnum motor that I will sell along with the exhaust kit with the headers separate to the buyer if interested.
