Vehicle Detail
This is THE barn find you are looking for! Up for sale is my 1928 Chrysler coupe. I purchased this car in 1997 from the second owner who purchased it from the original owner in the mid 60's. Car has been garage kept for the last 40+ years. I have not had it out to drive since purchasing it. Car features the "Red Head" straight six. Has a 3 speed manual transmission. Has had the Generator and Starter both rebuilt. The Fuel tank was taken out, boiled, and epoxy sealed prior to my purchasing it. ORIGINAL honeycomb radiator still has no leaks. All 4 wheel cylinders were rebuilt approx 10 years ago. Car has the wooden spoked artillery wheels. Has rumble seat! Car is in remarkably good condition, with only some rust between bottom of hood and bottom of doors in the cowl. She is an unrestored, unmolested original, prob one of the remaining few that have not been fooled with. Original Stewart vacuum fuel pump has been restored. It does have an electric 6v fuel pump on it now, with a pressure regulator to keep pressure at Carb to less then 2 psi. The headlight bezels were spun from brass about 10 years ago as well. Originals were cracked in multiple places. Original lenses and reflectors. Car is being sold with a plethera of spare parts including: 4 cylinder engine (complete and running)Spare TransmissionSpare Honeycomb radiator (completely flushed, tested, and painted)Front axleRear axle x2. (one is in perfect condition, other was rusted up but still good for parts)4 white walled tires on rimsSpare Hubcapswheel cylindersBrake hosesSteering column with wooden steering wheel Instrument cluster parts, handles, horn, and more misc parts. This car is complete and original. It does have a few issues which I will now let you in on. 1. interior handles all disintegrated. If your reading this post, you know pot metal has that drawback.2. Headlight switch "monkey tail" handle was long gone. Has newer style "knob" on it.3. Original carb missing, has replacement on engine which runs and was driven by previous owner with.4. Headliner and door panels missing. Seat is dirty but in very good condition. Springs fine, Material over entire seat! I had previously listed this prior to Thanksgiving, and it had numerous people interested, but no one purchased car. Since listing it, I have gone over it even more, cleaning and rebuilding Carb, and making sure it ran 100%. Master cylinder is leaking brake fluid, and is in process of being rebuilt. Car starts and drives, using Ebrake it stops too :) It was my ambition to restore this to it's original condition, being it is a very solid straight original. Would take very little to make it look like new in my opinion, if your handy and have patience. This is NOT a basket case, or missing doors etc like many other Chryslers I have seen come up for auction. I garantee anyone purchasing this car will not be disappointed. It truly is a one of a kind, and as original a car as you will find. I have not taken it apart, it is completely assembled. I did not want to start the restoration and then not finish. It can be driven as is, and shown in the preservation classes as opposed to a restoration class. ALSO: I believe I am the third owner of this car, however, when I purchased the car I did not transfer the title into my name. The title is clean, and signed by 2nd owner, for those purists, you would be the 3rd owner on record for this car. ANY questions, or extra pictures you would like to see, please feel free to ask. I want it to find a good home. If you are in the North West NJ area and would like to see the car in person, It can be viewed any day, almost any time. Email me for directions and details.
