Vehicle Detail
This is a very solid motorcycle, both due to its inherent design and the work I have put into it. Front and rear brake pads replaced, calipers reworked, and brake lines bled fluid replaced. Also, front and rear brake master cylinders replaced. Inline 4 carbaureters completely reworked to achieve smooth running engine. An extra set of inline 4 carbaureters is included with this bike. The clutch has been completely replaced with new friction rings along with a new gasket. The cluch cable has been replaced. There should be no problems with the clutch for another 10 years (with 3K to 5K miles per year usage). Front tire in excellent condition, Rear tire still has a few thousand miles of usage. Battery is 2 years old and still has another 2 years of life on it. Heated grips have been installed - work like a charm and give you agility down to freezing temperatures. Electrical system is in good working order. All lights and indicators work properly. The main fuse has been updated to current a fuse type as the original was brittle and causing intermittent power outs. SAE battery tender is installed. Front and rear shocks in good working order - nothing wrong with their seals. Gas tank has been cleaned and has no holes, no rust, and is in very good condition. It looks good cosmetically - no paint chips. The bike runs quite well and can comfortably be ridden on the highway at 80+ mph speeds. It starts up quite well at 32F when it is used at least every other few days. There are no oil leaks present. The bike comes with two extra oil filters. This bike also comes with foot pegs that can allow one to stretch their legs on long rides (not installed). A service manual (Clymer manual) is also included (no photo shown). An old owners manual is also included with the bike. The exhaust system is not standard, and it does not have any leaks. It is in fair shape and should last many more years - it does not have any rust. Two ignition/gas tank/helmet lock keys are included with the sale of this bike. Chrome and metal parts around the engine could do with some polishing to make the bike sparkle and take on a more beautiful look. The seat is in excellent condition - no holes, no rips. It is very comfortable, even for long rides. And it is not too high. This allows many different sized people to sit on it with both feet flat on the ground - I am 5'10" with a 32" inseem and could tolerate this seat to be another few inches (2' to 3") higher. Note that this is a 5 speed bike, with an overdrive gear, that effectively makes it into a 10 speed bike. And it is fast, but can be driven slowly (it's not jumpy like some sport bikes are). On Dec-23-11 at 13:27:06 PST, seller added the following information: Additional Updates made 4:25 PM Friday Dec 23 2011 I will not be exercising the option as stated previously "the right to end this auction early" - this motorcycle will only be sold via this ebay auction. Please refer to added photos which better show the bike. Regarding the statement above "Chrome and metal parts around the engine could do with some polishing to make the bike sparkle and take on a more beautiful look" - there are multiple web sites that show how a moderate amount of polishing can be applied to get metal to shine as if it were new - just takes a bit of work. Use Google key words like "polishing aluminum" to access this information. The metal finish on the bike is not pitted - it is tarnished - just not lightly like silverware tarnish. The bike can be picked up/shipped by/to the buyer no earlier than Dec 30 2011 as I will be away from home until then, but still monitoring this auction.
