Vehicle Detail

1970 Honda CT 70. Candy Sapphire Blue. 787 Original miles. I purchased this Honda to start my collection in 1988, and at that time it it had 437 miles. I purchased it from the original owner, who had kept it in inside storage. Since then, it has always been in a climate controlled environment, and only adult ridden. These were the bikes of my childhood, and I did my best to collect all the bikes that I always wanted. This was the first. My second was a '69 Z50.( Identical to my very first Honda, Christmas, 1969). This CT 70 is one that I had always wanted. The engine has never been apart, does not smoke, has no noises, and runs perfectly. The paint is original and is very nice. There is no fading. There are some normal scratches, but nothing major. No dents or dings - a very well cared for bike. ( all scratches were done done before my caretaker period). Tires and tubes are original, and show the appropriate wear for the low miles. The seat is original and has two minor flaws, one on the left side very minor and one on right front lower - also very minor. Over the 23 years that I have owned it, both flaws have remained unchanged. The rear fender has minor pitting that only shows if you view it up close - less than one foot distance. The front fender is very nice but also shows some minor pitting only under very close scrutiny. No dents or dings on any of the chrome. When I first purchased this bike, I had the chain guard repainted due to a half inch area that had been marred by the battery vent tube. At that time, I also replaced the rear brake cable because the rear taillight did not function with the foot brake. It was replaced with OEM Honda black cable because gray was not available at that time. (original cable included in sale, just not pictured) In 1997, when Honda finally reproduced a 70cc motorcycle, I purchased a 1997 XR70 carb, intake, and throttle and installed all. The only reason I did this was because it took 3 kicks to start the bike as it was, and the factory throttle has always left something to be desired. (My opinion only). It now starts first kick every time and has since 1997. The original carb, intake, throttle cable, handle bar and throttle assembly are included in the sale. The original right handle bar has no bends and is very nice. As I said, there was nothing wrong with these items at the time, I just prefer a first kick start in all my bikes. The exhaust is very nice with no rust or pitting; no dings or dents. Overall, this is a very honest example of a 1970 Honda CT 70 and I am confident that the new owner will not be disappointed. You receive an original, survivor, bike that has received mild amendments with OEM parts, and anything that ever came off the bike, comes with it. From new. I will miss this bike very much, but as our focus has moved toward a collection of vintage street bikes for Hill Country rides, room in our climate controlled garage must be made. Time for the Lil' Honda Toys to find good homes and caretakers. A $500 deposit is due through PayPal at the immediate end of the auction. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but we will be happy to assist. Check out Central Dispatch dot com. We have been very happy with their services over the past five years. Please, if you have less than 10 feedback, contact me prior to bidding. Unfortunately, there are people that bid and never complete their transaction on EBay. We want everyone that wants to add this bike to their collection to be able to bid, again we just ask that you contact us first if your feedback history is light - nothing personal, just friendly bid'ness. We still have a 1969 Z50, a very nice original bike, from an auction that ended Monday. We have not yet been contacted by the successful bidder. Anyone interested in this listing, please feel free to contact us. This item will be re-listed by no later than Thursday morning, unless the high bidder contacts us first. Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all !!!!!
