Ford out sells GM and Dodge combined in Diesel trucks and has the longest running history of Diesels in the domestic truck line. 2005 was the last year for the Ford Excursion and has yet to be rivaled by any full size SUV. The Excursion was built on the Ford 3/4ton chassis and although the F series line received a new front suspension in 2005, the Excursion continued with the solid front axle. Just ask any Four-Wheel drive enthusiast, nothing quite compares to the solid front axle configuration. What really sets this Excursion apart from the others is the Kelderman Air Ride System. Kelderman took a new approach to the "boxed" lift kits and completely engineered a four link suspension taking the place of all the factory components. This makes for extreme height capabilities and unprecedented ride control. No longer will you dread riding in a lifted truck, the handling is that of a stock truck, sometimes even better than stock. The front and rear track bars keep the axles from "rolling", while the airbags gently glide down the road absorbing bumps and seams in the interstate. At the heart of the Kelderman is a computer controlled Firestone Airbag system that allows the drive to preset height levels and select them at the touch of a button. It is operated off of twin high volume compressors and dual air tanks. Choose from maximum height for show purposes, mid-level for optimum ride and maneuverability, and low for ease of entry. There are manual air levels to inflate the bags from a standard air compressor. The life expectancy of these airbags is up to 20 years and maximum air pressure is 300 psi, far below the 20-40 psi the system calls for. Excursions have always been a favorite of mine. For close to a decade I have had an Excursion or two in my fleet and can't quite imagine driving something else. While GM has the 3/4ton Suburbans and Yukons, the under powered 6.0L V8 Gas Engine leaves alot to be desired. Additionally the frame and suspension are not much "heavier duty" than the standard half ton. The comfort out on the road is great and the added sense of security is again unmatched in the SUV market. If I have to be in a wreck, I would choose the Excursion any day, these truck are very stout. Under the hood of this Excursion is the 325hp 6.0L Powerstroke Engine. Say what you will about the 6.0L, but I have had nothing but good luck with this engine, and after driving the sloppy shifting and slow accelerating 7.3, the 6.0 seems like a rocketship in comparison. The best part is that when a 6.0 breaks, there are only a handful of things to point your finger to. The first and most common problem has already been fixed on this unit. The EGR(Exhaust Gas Recirculation) has been deleted, all of the problems with faulty EGR valves has been eliminated and any concern with the EGR cooler has been eliminated as well. Secondly, the fuel injectors gave quite a few fits, but mostly with the 2003-2004 models. The ECM has all of the latest recalibrations and all injectors balance test and flow fine. With just 54,000 miles on this truck, this itself is very rare. Most people buy these trucks to drive, any many people live in more rural areas, forcing them to drive great distances for normal day to day items. If this truck would fit in my garage and my Corgi could jump in it, I would keep it! While this truck is not a 1 owner, it has been well loved. It was recently traded in on a pickup because the previous owner needed to haul a 5th wheel trailer and required something with a bed. He purchased this from a dealer in Utah that took it in on a trade from it original owner. The pictured Huskey Liners have covered the carpets since the truck was new and was regularly washed and detailed. The original owner owned a truck accessory business and used this truck for promotions spending over $30,000 on this truck in aftermarket goodies. The truck is sitting on 38-15.50-20 Toyo Open Country Tires and 20x10 Custom Aluminum Wheels. The tires have plenty of tread left, not sure how much tread these come from the factory with, but I would venture to say there is over half of the tread depth remaining. This Excursion is boldly wearing front and rear Road Armor replacement bumpers. The front being a Stealth Winch Bumper with Titan Guard and the rear being a Stealth Bumper as well. Installed in the front bumper are top of the line PIAA driving lights and fog lights, while the rear is lit up with PIAA spot lights. There are over $4,000 worth of bumpers and lights on this awesome Excursion. Please note that there are a few spots of paint and chipping on the bumpers and I would highly recommend having these removed and powder coated. These few spots do take away from the appearance of the truck as the sheetmetal looks so perfect. I contemplated having the bumper coated white and having the Bushwacker pocket Style Flares painted as well, but the guys in the shop talked me out of it. My neighbor here at the shop can powder coat and color as you might wish, and we can easily have the flares sent out for paint as well. When this truck was first customized the factory tan body cladding was removed along with the fender flares that integrated with the lower cladding, Should you choose to go back to tan, the factory fender flares will not be wide enough for the massive tires. Again, I will be happy to make this truck unique to your preference. I always get excited when I see a super clean Ford Excursion Diesel, this truck was a great find for us. The body is all original and in excellent condition. It is accident free and has a clean car history and a clean and clear title with NO liens. There are a few rock chips down low and the front billet grill does have chipping on the black louvers. The driver and passenger window do have scratches on them from being unrolled when dirty/sandy(I am sooo picky)but if this does bother you we can have them both replaced for under $300. As I previously stated, the carpets look new and have NO stains. All of the dash and doors panels could pass for new and the seats are in excellent condition including the steering wheel and drivers seat. The interior is free from unruly children and pets, with NO signs of smoking and NO smoke smell. Performance wise, this truck will move! It was regeared with 4.56 Yukon Gears to maintain the power and acceleration compensating for the 38in tires. I drove this unit in from Kansas City and had no problem driving 60mph without constant down shifting(a tough task for a stock geared truck with this size of tires) and was able to go 80+ MPH without feeling I was going to lose it at any minute(very rare for a truck this tall). It is equipped with a Magnaflwo 4in Stainless Steel Exhaust that sounds great(not too loud though) and an Edge CTS(Color Touch Screen) Performance Programmer that boosts power and fuel economy, while functioning as a full gauge set broadcasting vital temps like EGT, Oil, and Transmission Temps. You can also use the Edge as a diagnostic tool to scan and clear trouble codes. The truck has now been fully serviced and is road ready. We do have a Master Certified Ford Technician a few blocks away and I will be happy to have this truck independently inspected for any serious buyer. The first set of photos are a gradual step from max height to lowest, however I did not take photos of the lowest level on the passenger side. The tan Excursion in a few of the photos is a 2004 4x4 with factory 20in Wheels. The tan one is large and just fits in a normal height garage, it just doesn't look too big next to the white one!
