Vehicle Detail
We have a small British Car restoration shop in NE Georgia. Once in a while, we will get calls from customers who have something non-British that they want to know if we are interested in. This car is the result of one such inquiry. When we went to see this little Alfa, she really talked to us, quite loudly I might add. While we don't do a lot of Italian cars we decided this one is FAR too nice to end up in a junkyard or, worse yet, the crusher. So we brought her back to the shop, dusted her off and now offer her to you here on Ebay. Our hopes are that someone will buy her, show her some love and put her back on the road, where she belongs. This Alfa has sat for 10 years and is inoperable. The brakes will need to be completely gone through and the tires are too old to be safe for the road (though they do have great tread and hold air well). The reason the car was put up is that the previous owner had rebuilt the engine, drove it around the block and heard some knocking noises. They pushed her in the barn planning to get back to her but 10 years slipped by, kids grew up and priorities shifted. This car is extremely solid. The only rust we could find is a bit in the front of the floors at the very front and a bad spare tire well (see pictures). These areas would be easy to address and the rest of the car is very good. The engine turns over and has good compression (150 range on all four cylinders). I believe it had a new clutch just prior to being put up. All the glass is in great shape except for the windshield. It is not cracked but has a bit of fogginess in the bottom corners. The top fabric is in good shape and could be re-dyed. The rear window has come loose at the bottom and will need to be restitched. The top goes up and down easily and the side windows roll up and down well. We removed the fuel tank, had it boiled out and repaired, then reinstalled it. We did get the car to run with a new set of points and a condensor. We too heard the knocking noise and shut her right back down. The red paint is in very good condition and, though it has a few minor chips and flaws, is very presentable. The interior is in decent shape and the seats are really nice considering their age. There are a couple cracks in the dash, the passenger extrior door handle lever is broken and there is a small hole in the passenger seat (see pictures). The gauges all look great and the chrome trim on the car is very nice. This car would be a great candidate to be restored as a driver. The possiblities are endless. It would also make a great father and son project over the winter. Or, if you have a similar Alfa that is all rusted out, this would make a great option for rebodying your car. Again, this car is inoperable and will require towing to her new home. We have plenty of help on hand for loading so BRING A TRAILER. Please feel free to email with any questions or to request any specific pictures. On Nov-30-11 at 16:23:50 PST, seller added the following information: There is no title on this car. This will be a "Bill of sale" transaction. I can, however, provide a letter from the state of Georgia stating that no titles are required for motor vehicles of this age. Normally this is enough to satisfy the tag office in most states but best check with them before bidding. On Nov-30-11 at 16:36:51 PST, seller added the following information: Ebay will only allow 24 pictures so I uploaded a great many more to this Photobucket album: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy356/Speedwell1/
